I am looking to add some kind of subwoofer enclosure to my 08 Double cab, without hacking up my behind the rear seat storage areas. Also, I would like it to be out of sight, as I have children and need the rear passenger area totally open for haulling passengers, groceries etc...... I am 39 years old and not a bass head, so I am not looking for some over the top shake the mirrors off the truck sub setup, just something to fill in the lows, so that the stock speakers can concentrate on the mids and highs and I can turn the bass way down on them. I think I have narrowed it down to 2 totally different options. I need for my setup to fit into one of the rear storage areas without modifying them.....don't want to hack up the plastic at all. I will probably try and slide the amp under the front seat mounted on a piece of board if I go the seperate component route. My 2 choices at this point in time are:

A custom built enclosure from Mr. Marv that will fit into the rear drivers storage area behind back seat. It fits without having to cut / trim ANYTHING, and will house this 8" sub:

I will pick up a compact 150W RMS amp and mount under drivers seat on partical board. This setup will probably run me around $350 when all said and done.

Second option is this powered 8" sub enclosure available at Crutchfield that will also fit in this same storage area behind the back seat on drivers side. The plus with this setup is that the amp is built in, and it now comes with wiring kit thrown in for $200 shipped to your door. Probably will not sound as good though......

I am open to suggestions and other options.............

You don't sound like an audiophile by any means, so I imagine you'll be happy with either of them. Mr. Marv builds some good stuff.

If you go this route you're likely to create a gap in your bass frequencies between where the sub outputs and then the bass that your drivers will usually output. I wouldn't suggest turning down the bass on your stock speakers... more like just enough to prevent distortion.

A good set of components and an amp might be an option for you too.

I'm going with the powered 8 inch sub. I've read few bad reviews, but for what I want, and you as well, i think the good reviews make it worth it. I like that i can have a lil more bass and still load the family up for a road trip.

I've got a 93 GMC typhoon I'm putting 6, 8 inch subs, thats my show truck so I wont mind having that rattle to pieces.
