find out what cat you HAVE to have, also replace them with cheap aftermarket high flow cats, usually like $100 check summit racing and jc whitney

I had a pathfinder that one day the emissions light came on when I was driving home from work. It also started running a little rough. Had the codes pulled and they indicated the cats on one side as well as something else I can't remember. The firestone shop (I know, a mistake) quoted me few grand to replace all the cats (4 on that truck) or they could do some fuel injection treatment that might help if it was clogged injectors for about 100 bucks. I took that route and it fixed it, as a matter of fact it ran better than the day I got it. That was my experience.

With the taco I use Seafoam every 5k or so to hopefully prevent that from happening. I don't know if it or any other fuel injector cleaner is going to fix your problem, but 10 bucks or so for injector cleaner is a lot cheaper than new cats. You do have over 200k miles, so repairs have a tendency to become pretty expensive at that point

First, yeah, get the exact code. Also, if you don't know when the spark plugs were last replaced, you might want to pull one to get a read on the burn and check the gap. If it looks crappy, they may all need to be replaced. That will help ensure complete combustion and eliminate that factor. Cheap and easy to do.

And remember that just like e-mail, posts are easy to take the wrong way unintentionally. We can't hear each other's tone of voice, and different people can interpret the same words differently...I think most of us are here because we want help and want to learn...or have fun. Remember the words of Rodney King: Can't we all just long duck dong? Oh, wait, that was Weird Science. Or was it? I dunno.

I referenced the metal most associated with the main use of gold, which is jewelry. Not too many people pay attention to the gold commodities market while posting on tW.

Just saying that overthinking ruins the joke because you are alienating your audience.
