What the hell? Did you buy the truck new? Looks like someone swapped mirrors.

 

These are actually my power folding mirrors.
But my original mirrors had the same mirror backing and same motor, so I never thought too much of it.

I believe when @KTJO 4x4 was initially making these power folding mirrors, I think she said that some come with these type of motors.

And I think the limited? OEM mirrors she pulled apart had the same motor.

Well, it is my fault for not paying attention.

 

Ah ha. You know I had a feeling you had an aftermarket mirror. I was going to ask if there was an accident or something before you bought it. But now I see what happened. Bummer. The power folding mirrors are a cool option though.

 

Still sucks, I wouldn't't have caught that either.

 

Just did the instal, OP instructions were pretty right. The driver side wiring is the same as the passenger side on my truck, and the passenger side is the correct way to do it. Wasted 20 minutes figuring that out! Looks like these trucks are all different!

Everything else went smooth and without really test driving really like them.


I did notice that when I move the passenger side mirror, there is almost a sound from the speakers? I have aftermarket speakers too so I dunno.

 

Got a hold of a mirror with the correct mirror backing.
Going to see what I can transplant over to my Power Mirrors.

 

Welp can't just switch out the motor.
It won't sit flush with the rear mounts.

Will need to switch out the mirror housing, mirror body to hinge connection and motor mounting bracket and the mirror motor actuator, but keep the hinge for the folding actuator, bottom cover, and turn signal.
I think I may be able to still use my existing harness.

Thanks for the heads up and getting out to work and reach out to Suma, I thank you for working with them. I just checked the website and it seems the heated versions are on pre-order. I have an SR with the heated mirrors. I definitely want a better daily driver and these mirrors will be what I am looking for, I know the RAV4 mirrors would be more cost effective, but my eyes would probably wander trying to use them. I am going to order them a soon as I can or go with the pre-order. The coupon code is a bonus and would save me the shipping cost. Much appreciated.

 

And if you really wanted to on the SR you could also wire in the turn signals if you wanted. The only thing is that you would have to wire them into the same circuit for the front turn signals if you wished which would also mean running through the doors into the cab.

 

I don't really want to touch the stock wiring, I know I can do it, having done some electrical repairs on my other vehicles. I'll keep as is as I have other obligations to take care of right now and need as much vehicle uptime.

 

Just wanted to post an update on these mirrors. I've had mine installed for over a month so far and I'm super happy every time I drive using these. Not only does it help at night with the anti glare but I've become super used to them during the daytime with the wide angle. I have so many accessories on my truck and this by far goes to the top of my list as one of my favorite mods.

I can agree, I love these things. I had my trailer on the truck yesterday and the view was much better. I have not tried at night yet as I don't go out when its dark much. With the time change that will change Im sure.

 

My truck does sit higher than most vehicles with the OME Bp-51 setup so glare at night from other vehicles was not too bad before but now with these mirrors it significantly decreases any glare at all. I think paired with the auto dimming feature of the OEM center rear view mirror it's a good combo. I am actually running a different center homelink frameless gentex mirror though. Makes it feel all hi-tech like I'm in a Lexus.

Having the camper on the back renders the rear-view mirror useless, as well as and looking over my shoulder. These should help me quite a bit.
