Interested as well. I'm pretty much up for any weekend. Black rock desert sounds awesome!

As far as a start to necessary equipment I would suggest:

    Comms: CB a must/HAM optional
    Full size spare
    Amber dust light
Fuel cans (not familiar with area but I'm assuming everyone should have at least 5 gal, if not 10 gal)
    Water! Water! Water!

Hoping to get my HAM license soon and the rest of my gear together. For a 2-3 day run I might be bringing too much gear. I just rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

    what what what...

how did I not see this earlier

Hmm... I'll try damn hard to make this

Definitely would love to go from Reno up through soldier meadows and then maybe like high rock and then over to onion resevoir and down through denio and winnemucca?

Central Nevada is pretty cool though, I love running around the Toiyabe's but that's 4hrs east of Reno. Or could always do something like Barney Riley and run around down that way.

Full sized spare, water, and fuel are a necessity.

Since we're all toyotas chances are good if you go through two tires someone elses spare will run, and I've got plugs and patches and valve cores and stems and tire iron.

Sup Cha! Yeah, I feel yah on the "I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it" phrase. Especially if you're far from civilization. I brought way too much shit on my Mojave/Death Valley trip, but it's comforting to know I have it.

Guns, hell yeah I'm bringing guns.

Plenty of places in Nevada to explore but the northern black rock would be fun in July I think, and it's not that far from Reno.

I'll come up with some other ideas.

    Nobody has mentioned firewood..

sounds like a few licensed HAM users will be on this run..including myself. Can somebody familiar with the area make a list of active repeaters for that region/area and post it:cookiemonster:

Yeah and fires aren't permitted on the playa without a tub. Iirc there's a 2mtub and a 440cmfloor that covers some of the area.

I don't have a HAM license or the money for the radios yet. I'll have a CB by then though.
