I installed the 612-40s today and did some testing. So far they seem quite good. I added two coolers filled with water to add about $180 lbs, so about 430 lbs on the bed. It still had a bit of rake, I'd say unless you plan on maxing out the payload the 40s are enough. On road ride with and without the water seemed almost the same as stock to me. I did a bit of rough forest road and that seemed ok as well.

    I have these,
    screengrab-1522390745603.jpg

going to mount inverted to the frame bump strike area, and either replace the factory bump with icon strike plates,
    screengrab-1522390886004.jpg
or I might cut the factory bump down to a square top to adjust for height needed. Also have poly spacers that i ordered with my front wheelers superbumps that I didn't use, may insert between the sumos and frame to space the bump lower.

When empty I can’t tell theyre even there. Ride didn’t change enough to notice on or off road unloaded. With my boat (15’ gregor) and gear in the back I don’t notice more than a 1/2” or so of sag and the ride feels nearly the same as unloaded. I don’t think theyll give you any lift but they will prevent reduce more sag.

Sumo springs won't stop the initial sag with weight as by design they don't contact initially I put 612-47 on my 2018 for when I haul heavier. I currently have a shell bed mat, tools and other misc stuff in truck to counteract that I went with a wheelers aal 22 single add a leaf which ended up as a net 1 inch lift compared to stock I am really happy with the setup

I put 40's on mine about 12 weeks back and have loaded it several times with 500-1000 lbs and it barely sags now, very happy with them and has not changed the ride at all since the frame doesn't sit on them until their is a load.

I ordered a pair of these that said they would fit. Looks like I got the 2x4 version instead of the 4x4. The main difference I see is the feet won’t hook around the u-bolts. Will these work for my truck or should I send them back?

    Too few to list.
Essentially the rear axle is the same for 2x4 and 4x4 in regards to how the leafs and u-bolts are attached.

These are made to bolt to the frame as a posed to being gripped by the u-bolts. They will fit under the u-bolts, but it’s not how they are meant to be installed.

I can't recall which ones I have, but for the towing I used to do (a 7x12 enclosed trailer with a large toolbox and robotic equipment), they were fantastic.

I just installed the 612-40 sumo springs a few weeks ago. I have an ARE CX cap and noticed some sagging when I would load up for camping. With just the weight of the shell, these just start making contact with the frame. I haven’t had a chance to check sag with a lot of weight in the bed, but they do help a lot with body roll on the road. Overall ride is no different than stock so far on pavement.

If anyone decides they no longer want their 612-40’s I’d be potentially interested in buying. Not sure whether I want to go sumo or airbags, so really just trying to find a used set so I’m not into it for too much $$ if it doesn’t work out for me

Initially I had the 47's and they didnt stop sag when I hooked up my trailer. There was a gap between the 47 and the rail. The 750lb rating is at 50% compression, which is about 1 1/2" sag min.
I had a 5th spring added and all leafs were dearched to maintain a 36" rear wheel opening height Kept Sumo spring in with no gap. Great setup, I tow a 20 travel trailer with an 600lb tongue weight, canopy and 500 lbs in the bed. Truck drops no more than 1" before adjusting with equalizer bars.
Ride is slightly rougher, doesn't feel like a car now.

Correct, if I can remember correctly, the extra leaf was added in the middle.
