I just thought about a hose clamp, that might be a good way to get it real tight

I got them at Home Depot. Neodymium magnets would be nice too.

I used a nylon zip tie and it seems to have worked for me so far.

Bit of a thread rival going on here I see. I don't have this problem but what about a short stout self-tapping screw into the headrest, then a magnet you can adhere (superglue, hot glue?) onto the top side of the shade to act as sort of a strike plate. When up, magnet on screw head. Easy enough to drop down if you need the shade.

I's go to the dealer to complain on a new vehicle, but on an older one, it seems like a simple and clean fix that still allows function.

IMG_1396.jpg IMG_1396.jpg IMG_1397.jpg Thanks for the great idea to use a stick. I tried hot glue to rejoin the broken plastic piece with no luck, so rooting around my garage I found clips used to mount vertical blinds. With the stick as inspiration I bent the clip to perform the same function. So far so good.IMG_1396.jpg

IMG_4950.jpg If you get Velcro (sticky part)and wrap it around the shaft that goes into the visor. Shove visor back into shaft. It will hold nicely for you.

Maybe try to wrap some electrical tape around the plastic part on the visor and see if adding some bulk to it will help it hold better in the clip that's on the headliner? If it doesn't work you can just take it off and try something else. If it does work it may be something you have to do periodically if the tape starts to wear thin.

So yesterday I cut the cloth open, drilled two sets of holes, ran zip ties thru and tightened them up... works like new. The plastic had actually separated which means the spring clip thing couldn't do it's job. So now the zip ties keep it closed tight. If they fail I'll figure something else out.
