The good news is the iron and wet towel did the trick...all three of the stupid-a$$ labels came off. The not as good news is that the Goo Gone didn't do the trick...the white residue remains. I went back and got another type of Goo Gone (because there are only about 6 different types now), so I'll tonight how well it works.

i am a detailed-oriented guy and i hated the sunvisors too.

my $85,000 BMW convertible has the same labels, they look absolutely horrible in an otherwise dapper interior

i bought $9 worth of black, vinyl contact paper from Bed Bath and Beyond and just covered them up. the stuff usually used in your kitchen drawers

looks pretty good, the BMW is black/carcoal, the tacoma is grey, but the clean, black squares look much better than the ugly warning signs.

i also used the black vinyl sticker to cover up the MP3 WMA Sirrius JVC on the radio faceplate.

here is my thread from long ago, not much help though:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/76051-how-cover-ugly-airbag-warning-sunvisors.html

i removed every single decal on the truck, took me 6 hours. hot cup warning labels, tire pressure label (re-located to the glovebox), the only one i left on was VIN #

There is a member here pistolpete (a chemist) who had a DIY over at tundrasolutions on this. I say tundrasolutions for he owns/owned a tundra (that is where I first saw the thread since I owned one too).

Anyway went looking for that thread, could not find the pictorial but did this cut and paste from an old thread. Maybe this helps
His original thread topic was sun visor destickering....
    quote from pistolpete:
"THOROUGHLY soak the visor and then place a damp cloth over the visor and steam.....the reason for thoroughly soaking the visor is that most hot melt adhesives are hydrophobic (not compatible with water) and thus the dampness will keep the adhesive from further penetrating the fibers when you "melt" it with the steam and then wipe it off.....you may have to do this several times.....I think it is a better alternative to solvents as the solvents will "dissolve" the glue but will allow it to penetrate into the fibers and get that glazed, matted down look.....just a chemists opinion!"

The "thoroughly soaking" prior to steaming with the iron is very good advice. The objective is to loosen up the adhesive enough that the sticker is EASILY removed...not just loose enough it can be ripped off. What I have now is exactly as stated above...the glazed, matted down look. Better than the sticker, but not what I wanted / expected.

I used the Goo Gone gel, not the spray bottle, and I heated the residue with a hair dryer as I was rubbing in the Goo Gone. Hope this might help.
