    It can be mounted either way. On my truck the bars will be just like yours just not on the topper

    The mounting rails come long to mount them long ways when closed or cut them shorter to mount them cross ways. That way you decide which way is best for your application. The picture shows them mounted cross ways but they have not been cut to length yet.
