    Some stuff
So… 4th gen has better payload ratings.
    Why?
Did Toyota just change the numbers?
    Actual testing involved?
    Is it the disc brakes?

    Let’s get this locked down.

Larger rear diff ( 9.5" ), more glass fibre in the composite box liner. Fully boxed frame and suspension improvements.

Tow ratings aren't arbitrary numbers that come out of thin air. Actual testing standards are involved.

I'd guess it has a lot to do with the greater torque and added disk brakes. I'd guess maybe some suspension upgrades as well.

I doubt the disc brakes had anything to do with it. The only reason Toyota decided to put discs on is to appease the Karens that constantly whine about needing them. I really don't see any improvements in the 4th gen. Looks like a whole lot of fluff to me. Turbo- not an improvement, electric parking brake- not an improvement, extra cab with no suicide doors- not an improvement, rear disc brakes- not an improvement, limited manual options- not an improvement! There's a lot less to be desired in the 4th gen vs the first 3!

The 4th Generation is marketed to those who deep down inside wanted a Ridgeline. Its a cute little Karen mobile
