If there corrosion it should be within a foot of said water intrusion maybe 18”. It would be were the water wicked it’s way under the wire sheathing. You would need to cut back the sheathing to confirm which wires have corrosion and how far. If it’s within 18” of the connector there no reason the corroded wire/s can’t be replaced and with new ends and the connector repinned. Especially if none of them are airbag related.

Do you also know if it would make sense that ohms could drop over time as it drys out? They said originally was 6 but over past few weeks reading 3 ohm as it’s been drying. Just don’t believe a word from these people anymore, hoping insurance sends someone today to make a decision so I can get it and go elsewhere. Sorry for questions, been doing research just hard to find answers so specific

Possibly yes. Could have been the meter he used also having a finicky moment. If they just checked end to end, they should have also checked by slowly moving back from the water intrusion until the reading was normal then you would know were the said corrosion was in the harness.

I would also think they'd need to clean and ensure that the contacts in the harness are clean and proper. If there is some oxidation on the connectors themselves, that poor connection can cause a change in resistance... All electrical connections should be clean and tight..

Insurance approved the engine harness today, $6100 job. We will see if that fixes the issues by next week once it’s all done. Still no clarification on where the water was/is 100% coming from. Still on them about that, they say no more water has come in but we will see. Per the dealership they can’t show the corrosion without ripping up the old one, will be interesting once that comes out to see

Well, it's been a month since you said 'next week'.

This is a weird thread that we'd all love to hear the final resolution of......
