Is there anyone out there who has had a problem with leaking sunroofs on 2016 tacoma? I have had my truck in the dealership several times I've gotten nowhere, I've contacted Toyota they are going to call me back next week. Was just wondering if anybody has delt with this problem and what the outcome was.

If you search using the term 'leaking sunroof' you'll find a few brethren.

I never wanted the moon roof to begin with. Mine has the moon roof and never opened it just because I dont want to take the chance of it beginning to leak.

I never wanted it either. They are trying to tell me that it's designed to leak through the seal into the drip pan.

No it leaks down into the drain tubes. It shouldn't leak at all

Check out some of the other posts, saw a few that had blocked drain hoses and one that had a cracked weather strip seal..

In any case, keep causing a ruckus at the service department...

They replaced the seal and claimed they fixed a bent drain tube

Mine is dry as well but I will keep an eye out. Is it wet near the headliner near sunroof? Where should I look?

That's normal. Every sunroof I've owned for twenty years has been designed that way. Not much should get past the edges of the sunroof, but what does goes into the drain pan then down whatever drain tubes are installed and down to the bottom of the car.

If the pan isn't draining properly, that is definitely a problem. Fairly easily tested by locating the drain tube entrances and trickling a little water into them and seeing where/if it exits.

    this

it should never, ever leak. water drains into the sides and out plastic tubes.

I have a 99 4runner with factory sunroof and since 1998 and it has never ever leaked and I use that
roof constantly. toyota knows how to make a sunroof. if yours leaks it is a crappy assembly
or seals and not just the fact 'it's a moonroof'

I haven't looked at mine yet (finally picked it up last night), but on others I've had the drain tubes had a pretty good capacity.

Take a strip of paper and close it into the back of the sunroof seal. Does it move around easily? Can you insert it past the seal at any of the other edges or at the corners?

This is a problem not unique to Toyota. My MK5 R32 leaked, my Volvo C30 leaked. The carpet was always soaked and gave off those aweful sock smelling odor Enough to drive my wife insane. The drain tube is the problem child. It always blocked from all the road dirt and back the water into the car.

I regretted not having the Tech package. Now I'm thinking I might just lucked out.
