Hey to all you Taco bros,

    New to the forum

    On my 4th Tacoma...2007 TRD , now at 160K, purchased in 2010 with 50K.

Luvin' my truck more than ever!

But now is the time to do a bunch of the maintenance, which I have not yet completed.

All the normal maintenance procedures, coolant flush and refill, Trani fluid flush and refill, front and rear diff fluid changeout, etc., etc.,

For the past two years I've dealt with a "tired", for lack of better words, starter.
The starter issue has been so inconsistent that I have not yet installed a new one.
It just always seems to have an issue with dampness, like after it rains, so this Spring , when I had some other work done, I asked the mechanic to make sure the ground connections were re-evaluated and secured properly, and I had no issues until yesterday, when we had the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida come thru. We had nearly 6" of rain in 6 hours and my truck just would not start...So I got out there today and tapped the starter a few times and Voila...it started...

I thought about replacing it myself, but for the lack of all the tools and a proper place to do it, I called my mech and got a price for a replacement.

I'm still a bit hesitant, because for the past few years, it has this weird issue and then a few cranks later, it starts...like every 2 to 3 months...fortunately I've never been stranded...it just starts..I don't know if I just have good luck or that it's not really the starter itself?

Anyone else here ever have this happen to them?

    Best regards, Frank the Crank
