just a small note concerning flowmaster mufflers. i put on a 40 series just a year ago and for the last 5 months it has a horrible ratteling sound coming from inside the muffler itself sounds like one of the baffles is just lose and rattling around inside of it.

needless to say other than that i like the sound it provides but, i hear that this is a common problem with flowmasters in recent years. so now i'm going to have to replace the muffler with something else probably wicked flow as it sounds similar to the flowmaster but is made correctly and everybody on here likes theres and are reporting no problems. just an fyi i would stay away from flowmaster if i had to do it again.

theres nothing wrong with flowmasters, im sure wickedflow has had a muffler fall apart too. The performance gain with flowmasters is zero (mostly because they are all designed for larger displacment motors) but so what pretty much everybody swaps mufflers for sound not for performance.

FM sounds good up until 2500rpms. I would go with a mangaflow or a borla muffler if I were you.

It looks like its all by preference, the reason i think flowmasters rust out is because they condensate. Most packed mufflers absorb the moisture. I have dual 40s on my chevrolet and if you have tips you have to spray them with some paint or they'll rust out too.

I have a Super 44 on my 2.7. Had it since may of '10. Contrary to what some may say, I DID notice some performance gain, though not a whole lot. It sounded a little better before I did a higher flow exhaust, but i've gotten used to the highway drone. I had a friend who had a 44 on his 3.4l 4runner, and it was pretty loud, but he also had it dumped right after the muffler.
My only complaint about my Super 44 is that is has corroded like crazy. I noticed that within a year of running it, the whole bottom was rusty. Then again, not all places in the US have real winters-> snow -> road salt. Man I hate winter...

Well you guys, I got a 44 I do like the sound, I've drove it for a few days and it seems like a pretty huge gain in MPG :spy:. I'm going to put it to the real test when I drive it to work this week to see if its not side steppin' me.

The real difference in this would be L4 and V6. I like the magnaflow and flowmasters i've heard on V6s and Borla and Wicked Flow on L4
