Just got a 2014 Tacoma 6cyl and noticed a super high pitched sound. Probably 10-15khz coming from the passenger side of the engine. I took a pic at the location I THINK it might be coming from.It goes away after it warms a bit. Just curious if this is normal and what it is?

quick google search of "smog pump" will tell you everything you need to know.

Essentially it pumps fresh air into the exhaust so the catalytic converters can burn more stuff in the exhaust to make a cleaner running car.

No fix for the noise as it isnt a problem,

I had one of these in my old taco, but it was called the cold air start. If only turned on when the engine was cold.
First Ive seen of a smog pump. I have neither one in my Tacoma now.

Like others said smog pump, looks like they added a cover to them for the 14' models. Wonder if it serves any purpose other then making it look better.

Anybody know exactly what part of the pump generates the noise? Exhaust maybe?

I have a 2008 2.7 Access Cab and it has the air pump/fan assembly.
Dealer part price only for new airpump is $530 ish. There is a kit available that "omits" the "chk engine light" for this issue for $250-300 on line ebay or just do a Google search. I'm not sure if it shuts the screaming fan off.
