All right. Asking what is maybe the stupidest question ever asked on Tacomaworld, but embarrassment is better than a brain aneurysm.
Is there a spare tire lock/key/ or some dang thing that I'm missing???

I even read the Owners manual....says to attach the jack handle rods together, insert hooked end into "lowering screw" and turn counter clockwise. Duh. Just like every other pickup.

I don't have a "lowering screw". I've gotten my hand between spare and bed and where the screw should be, there is this round metal tube that no part of the jack assembly fits into. I can easily hand twist it, it just free spoils and nothing happens.
Do some years have a "key" that fits over the jack handle? I've encountered similar on a Dodge Durango once.

That's an OEM spare tire lock. If you can find a number code on it, you can order the correct key online.

You might get more answers if you put a tittle along the lines of "spare tire troubles" but thats just me

You should know better than this, if you say hot neighbor, the entire site will want pics.

My 04 Tacoma has one like the 1st picture. But it looks like you need a tool like this. On my 04 I have the part that fits right into the pattern in the 1st picture unlike that extra part in the 2nd picture. By the way, all I did was google spare tire parts for an 01-04 Tacoma.

You said hot neighbor, you showed no pics, no sales, and no profit. And for that reason I'm out.

This is the reason I no longer check the "Search titles only" option when searching.

I wish I had pictures of the neighbor. Next time I'm peeping through her windows I'll snap a few.

Guess I'll be figuring out how to get this random part. Can't get my worn out leaf springs off to get the new ones on as long as I have a spare in the way.

I bet even the pair of tits next door could figure out how to remove the spare from the truck.

    No neighbor pics?

This is how you get the whole Tacomaworld community to hate you after only 20something posts.

Ok I think i figured out whats going on from the blonde like issue taking place.

The OP is actually a chick, and like most women when trying to change a wheel, was freaking out in front of the hot ass fireman next door.

Hahaha I knew by not being able
To drop my spare I was going to get a lot of crap.

Anybody have a part number for this thing? Without the key to look at, or being able to access the part that's hidden by the spare I'm at a loss. Pickup is sitting on jackstands without a suspension so driving to the dealer isn't an option
