super rake!

Made some coil spring inserts to replace the bump stops and give me some lift. I had tried making it almost 10" and that gave me nothing so i added about 2.5" and thats about the ride height i gained( im sure it will settle some). Im gonna get some 5100 in a month or so and go 2" up front, but i had some time this week so i went ahead with the rear.


Oh this cost me nothing but time. My father in law had the coils and he gave them to me and the 3/8" ish flat bar was in our scrap bin. Free is good.

 

no chance of those flying out if you were to hit a big dip in the road??

 

Only if they broke or the stock u bolts failed since thats how i attached them on the bottom. Its not a big concern of mine, plus they measure just over 12" and at full droop the is only 10" between the fram amd leaf. I had to disconect the shock and put a bottle jack on the leaf to get the coils in.

They used to call that the Zuk mod on the 84-95 trucks after the member that pioneered them.

Always wanted to try it. Never got around to figuring out the best way to secure the springs to they couldn't go flying.

I think 7018's should suffice. Bottome plate is secured with stock ubolts and top plate with 3/8 bolt through frame

 

How are those Bilstiens holding up with the additional lift?

 

Just did it today but they have 179... miles on them so not super concerned about them. im getting 5100 in a month or so.
