Here we go again for the second time around, zero intentions on removing the lenses this time to paint the boards, therefor if these crack too and the warranty gets ignored again there won’t be a fool me 3 times, I’m just going to walk away from this mod. Unless of course the hex pods get released and are trouble AF free.

Also just noticed out of the 11 cyclones I’ve bought over the years I have 3 different versions of the V1 cyclone.

First 6 I bought 2+ years ago are all the same, the 2 clears I just bought off Amazon are different than them and the 3 red’s I just bought from performancelifts.com are different than both.

from left to right we have the new Amazon clears, the new reds from PL, and one of the original 6 with a painted board and the lens removed.

I ordered a KC4 for my ‘21 AC. @MESO did you adjust the depth for the V2 Cyclones or just left it alone? It didn’t say on the order page. I’m just wondering because I’ll be happy either way. I already have my 4 V2 Cyclones just waiting.

Installed my second BD-4-NMO housing after the first one got hail damaged.

While I was at it I went ahead and put both the brake and cargo lights on separate relays with beefy wiring (the gauge still goes up to 22 AWG at the lamps themselves though). I have a huge ground going to the C-pillar as well.

Still having FOB interference issues when the lights are on. :frusty:

Did you run the power for the cargo lights directly to the battery?

Yes, I wired in a relay that gives them independent power from the battery.

Any other folks experiencing interference or power issues to these lights? I see conflicting information both on MESO’s website and via several ideations of these brake lights. I see “plug and play” thrown around, then on the website saying a separate relay is required to maintain baja warranty.

I’m a bit uncertain about the long term stability. Anyone who’s been actively using these for over a year- please share your review. Particularly for 3rd gen Doublecab

It all depends on that type of lights your using. I have the KC ones and they were plug and play. They have been working flawlessly for over a year now. Someone worth the Baja ones will have to chime in as I believe those are the ones with the issue.

It was a fail, pointed out by MESO. A custom connector appears to be necessary. De-pin and re-pin to a compatible connector from TE which uses the 025 or whatever terminals is the best path forward. If I open mine up I will cut and re-crimp 090IIU to match my '02 Tundra.

I'd for sure do a relay if I were upgrading things, possibly 2 relays depending on lights used. But since mine is blocked by a shell, the only thing I really want is a tap of cargo light (since I'm lame and don't have the built in bed light connectors) and a way to disconnect the ground when the shell is on and re-establish when it's off.

I have the KC5 hard wired to the OEM wiring well over a year with no issues to report. Everything works for me.

Since you said Baja warranty, my post is about the BD light version only.
Yes I had interference problems, but after changing the cargo lights to a relay powered directly from the battery and running a new earth (both down the passenger side and not close to drivers side where OEM wiring is), my problems went away. I had many conversations with BD over the interference and their solution was to run relays up by the light. (I didn’t like the location of the relay, so did my own solution with relay under dash next to OEM fuse box). The warranty on BD has been excellent, I had some anodizing fade and they replaced all 4 lights (I only asked for two). Personally I have never seen plug and play being mentioned with the BD lights, also DB never asked about relays when they did warranty.
I have been actively using them for over 2 years, and I would do it again in a heartbeat, mainly because I went with the cargo camera option and that’s been perfect. A clean camera install is what I wanted and the cargo lights were just icing on the cake. As a side note, I did not expect the MESO painted plastic to hold up as well as it has over this time. I was fully expecting it to need to be painted by now.
