I haven’t heard of any. MESO’s newer kits include the body ground to avoid the issue. I’m an original via factory harness (v1 KCs) with no issues. I can’t speak for the v2s, but the KCs had a lower draw, which is what spurred the BD need for additional power/relays. The 4 was ok, but the 5 was pushing the limits of gauge/length/draw. Keep in mind, what folks are discussing is related to the bed lights, coming on with /related to door/lock unlock. I also recall something about radios and the BDs, but I could be wrong there too.

    A bunch..and no build thread!
Finally installed mine, big shout out to @MESO for sending me a hardware kit and connector (I was gifted my housing but it didn't come with anything but the housing and gasket) and @NoOne for all the PM help with wiring and my questions!

Since I do not care about stock parts, I drilled out the rivets (took all of 10 seconds) to remove the old brake light, cleaned off the old foam gasket (probably the toughest part), wired the grounds from all 5 KC Cyclone V2's to the body and plugged in the connector!

Also, update. Can confirm the 3rd brake light was messing with my touchless driver side door lock. Turned the 3rd brake light 'off' at the switch and the truck locks instantly w/ touchless lock. Also, waiting until the 3rd brake light has 'dimmed off' also locks immediately. Not sure if I want to go through the hassle of regrounding it or just waiting until the light fully dims every time lol, oh welllll.

    Have a good 4th everyone!

Installed yesterday. Had some help by the father in law. Quick question do you guys silicone / RTV the bottom of the light (yellow). Friend told me to only do the top and sides (pink) because he said rain/water won’t get in from the bottom but if it did it could drain out. Thoughts?

Thanks for the response man. I’m curious to see what others in this thread say about not sealing the bottom of the KC5... I may seal all the way around this week. I’m still deciding what makes the most sense. I put some RTV on the inside of the light around the gasket that MESO installs.

I have the KC5. I first sealed it everywhere but the bottom. I went through an auto carwash and the high-pressure water spray got through. So I went ahead and put black RTV all the way around. It has been dry ever since. I go through the auto wash at least once a week. I’ve had my light installed over a year. Had to replace lenses twice because of cracks. None since getting the plexiglass lenses cut.

I have the V2's on mine as well. I figured if I seal all of it really well, it is added insurance, especially since you had to have everything off the truck in the first place..lol

Just the MESO gasket, nothing else. No leaks in several years… I did use rubber fender washers on back side of each of the KCs as well as silicone where the wires come through… but just a dab before I pulled the last bit in.

Glamour shot of mine with the kc5 I did last week. Looks great and is very functional. 2 yellows, and 3 reds all wired to the factory plug with no issues.

Hey guys cargo and brake lights were working fine but I went to check last night and realized my KC5 cargo lights are out but the middle brake lights are working. Any ideas? I checked the cargo fuse and it looks to be fine.

I had Kyle on here wire it for me since I don’t know anything electric.

The Meso clip had a loose pin or something that was off when I initially went to install so my father in law cut both plugs (the Meso plug and the factory 3rd brake light plug) and crimped (terminology) the 2 cables (brake) and (cargo) together and I grounded through the bolt.

So the power wire for the brake and cargo lights are attached to the same power wire from the factory harness?

do me a favor. Turn the cargo lights on then hit the brake and see if they light up.

there are 3 wires off the factory harness. 1 power for the brake lights. 1 power for the cargo lights. And one ground.

Thanks for the response. Kind of like this but only 2 wires. I grounded through the bolt.

Also took out the fuse out but it’s hard to tell if it’s blown or good?

I will try the test out tonight just want the father in law to eye ball the fuse when he gets home first.
