I’ve heard the Super White color way on current Toyota vehicles aren’t that great. Can any owners on here chime in with their experiences?

    thank you

Lots of discussion on this. Bottom line is that I should start saving my money for a paint job in a few years!!

I guess that’s a possibility as well. Interesting thing about this issue is Toyota has several models with the white paint issue under a “repaint” plan or something but the Tacoma is not on that plan. Seems wrong.

It's rare that the paint peels, don't worry. Just take care of it like any other truck.

2020 so far with no issue on the paint. I can tell you in a couple of years but think it will be okay with basic care.

the problem is that the superwhite has clear coat mixed in rather than applied on top. The reasoning for this because if there was a layer of clear coat over the white, then it would start to yellow. As a result, it has less protection against chips, scratches, and uv rays compared to any other color. Me and my buddy both have super white 07's with rock chips galore on our hood and front end.I would say if you really want white, go for it. If you are on the fence between white and another color, i would recommend the other color. However, with proper washing, coating, and waxing, ur truck should be fine no matter the color.

Super white is the best. I’ve beaten my truck up on trails and you can’t see the scratches, dents etc. any other color and you could see it.

There is nothing unique about Toyota’s white and there aren’t any issues unique to it over other colors. It’s all a bunch of perpetuated myths.

If you want white, get it.

I just got my letter for my 4runner. I think they called it a customer support program notification. First letter stated they were aware of a problem with the Super white and Blizzard Pearl paints peeling. Second letter stated they have a solution. They will repaint affected panels only. My paint on the 4R is not peeling. Neither is the paint on my Taco.

I also have no paint issues (knock on wood). I try to wash the truck at least every other week, and always shoot it down after the beach. I also try to polish every other month and bust out the clay bar when i see those little rust dots which I've been told are from break dusts... Truck is parked in a covered garage...

There’s no way every white Taco out there is going to have this issue. There are literally hundreds of thousands of them on the road. You’ve probably witnessed a whopping 5-10 people mention it on a message board. If you want white, get it.

Just don't take it through a car wash. Paint is fine, tougher than a windshield

My '16 hasn't had any problems with the paint that I didn't cause outside of the usual rock chips. At 99k miles and I still get the "is that brand new?"

Like other's have said, if you want white, then get it. The body lines look so clean on a white Tacoma.

I'm on my 3rd windshield.
2018 super white with 33k miles, only a couple of rock chips that touch-up paint pen could fix. Hand washed, never through one of those machine car wash.

I have painted idk how many white vehicles and huge pieces of equipment over the years. It’s just a single stage white with three parts paint, hardener, and reducer. It’s not subject to any more issues than any other color. My guess is they had some prep issues on certain trucks but that could happen with any color

It seems like most of the reports of peeling on here were for 2017 models.

How old is your truck and what kind of care do you do to it?
