In reality, any mountain bike on a tacoma looks good.

Recently got a 2014 Off Road in Super White. Paint has peeled
under the hood along the fenders which I plan to fix.

Paint is a little dull all around. What do you guys do to keep the shine? Any recommendations to keep the paint protected?

Your paint peeling under the hood is classic 040 paint failure. It affects other areas too such as the areas around the passenger and drivers windows. There is a thread on here regarding the 040 Super White paint failure affecting the 3rd gen's. No word yet if they will extend this to the 2nd gens.

There is also a thread on here regarding detailing your truck. I personally just wash it regularly following best practice and use a synthetic spray wax after. Once a year I will decontaminate the paint, clay bar and then use a cheap spray ceramic wax. I'm too scared to use a orbital polisher to do a paint correction.

Just washed the engine bay for the first time a few weeks ago. Little effort with great results.

Many of us Super White owners have opened a case with Toyota. TnShooter can share a link to his post with information.

You may have me confused with someone else.
I don't have a white Tacoma. Mine is silver.
The only peeling issue I have had is with my wheels.
The early Off-Road wheels seemed to have peeling issue with the powder coating on the wheels.
Most of the time they were covered under warranty. But only if the truck was less than 3 years old and under 36k miles.

As for body paint issues. I am not too familiar with it. I know it was a problem.
But I never looked into it much since my truck was silver.

    Can you post pics?

Please do open a case with Toyota so they can extend their customer service program to 2nd gen. More complaints will help make this happen.

The common areas are under the hood like you’re seeing, around the windows, and on the rear corners of the rear quarter panels kind of tucked behind the bumpers. Keep an eye on these spots.

My 2015 PreRunner. I bought her new in November 2014.
She has 105K easy-driven miles, and she drives better now then the day I drove her off the dealership lot!

I don't have it peeling anywhere else but there. Is there a number I can call to open a case? I'll get a photo shortly.

Believe this is the number I called. Please mention the super white customer service program and ask them to please add second gen Tacos.

She said she would consider it as a formal complaint and there's nothing she can offer for my VIN. I called that 888 number they have on the other thread

If that's the case, everyone on this thread should spend the 30 seconds and call. Wouldn't hurt.

That’s the idea. They track the number of complaints they get for particular issues and that’s how they decide to start or amend programs or provide other warranty like coverage. Every call/complaint adds another tick mark to their list.

Forgot to add. She said I can go to a dealer and have them assess it and quote me a price to fix it and then call them to see if they can help. But said this was unlikely.
