Superbads Boring Build and not Enough Exploring

I've always wanted to learn but never had the opportunity until now. Been watching vids and reading about it the past few weeks. I may never get the time needed with a welder to get good but I'll be happy as long as I can learn to make strong welds that hold and can be cleaned up to look nice.

 

I come from a long like of fabricators and metal workers. My dumbass thought it'd be more enjoyable to work with my brain instead of my hands.

It was already too late when I figured out that I'm not very smart

 

I grew up working with my hands just never got to work with metal. I always knew I wasnt book smart.

 

I learned how to weld many, many years ago. Something like 35 or so years ago. I really haven't used that skill since then. I've been thinking about trying to re-learn it. Think it would be worth it?

 

You should pick it up again. Always a handy skill to have.

 

Worth it depends on you I would think. It seems like a really useful skill to have and could be used for a lot of different things. I may start creating more reasons to practice and get better or I may do a couple things and be over the ideal of it. My whole reasoning to learn is simply because ive wanted to for 20 or so years and never have.

 

I've been wanting to replace my front bumper. I've been looking at the SSO slimline, with the option of adding a winch later.

I found that they have the same bumper, under Armageddon brand, but you have to weld it all together yourself. I'm a frugal guy so, I might do that and borrow a friend's arc welder. I can do that for half the price of a finished bumper. I just don't really trust my welding skills. That's definitely going to take some practice. I have a couple of other projects that I might be able to use some welding skills.

 

Or maybe you could buy a used one, it's possible there's one in your area that could be for sale soon.

It’s trash Monday got to haul everything down to the road. Might tack the remaining few plates on this morning.
