Little bit of a rough start today. My pellet grill/smoker pretended it was gonna run until I threw a brisket on and then it overflowed the pellets and went out...:frusty: Spent the next 1.5 hgrs to get it running again. Seems to be running now and my brisket is on! With how much trouble this pellet grill can be it really makes me want a stick burner. Almost seems like it would be easier than the temperamental, non existent temp control of pellet grill that I've been using. Currently have the pellet set to 150° and its running between 190° and 210° for now. Told Maner yesterday that next month I might be ready to start getting some serious plans in place to build me a stick burner! After this morning next month seems so far away.

It is at just under 11lb's. The smoker kinda makes it look bigger since its practically touching both sides. Theres less then 1/2" to spare, I had to fold it a little to fit through the door.

Let me know what size you want and I'll look next time I go to costco. They had several in the 10-13lb range and more in the normal 15lb+ range. There was one that was a 1/4-1/2lb smaller than what I got but it was a little longer so I grabbed the shortest one I could find. Good thing to since it barely fit!

Brisket came out great. Ended up being a 10 hour smoke. Immidiatly threw it in a cooler and took it over to a good friends so I didnt get any pics right away. The drive kinda sucked because it smelled so good in the back seat. Really liking the S&P rub. Tried it at a 60% pepper and 40% salt and it was great.
Heres was about 7 hours in before it got wrapped to it finish off.
    20200904_142417.jpg
a couple finished pics when I sliced the flat up after 2 hours resting.

Once it was wrapped I had to run some errands. Had to see if my truck would pass inspection so I could get a new registration sticker. Thankfully my truck passed with the front bumper all cut up and a decent size chip in the center of the windshield. Somehow I never got pulled over last year after losing my sticker and never getting a replacement, likely partially since I only drove 1/4 of what I did previous years and the sticker being behind my ditch light. Maybe it was foreshadowing to wanting forget all about 2020 and move on to better times. The truck has the correct sticker in the window!
    20200904_160449.jpg
New sticker got installed before leaving the parking lot so I cant lose this one.:rofl:Dont want to try my luck with having a 2yr old sticker in the window. 20200904_160533.jpg

Its a Green Mountain Grill Davey Crockett. Some of the issues I have with it may be caused from when the "wind"(def not my pup Teq :anonymous:) knocked it off a table a year or two ago. This winter I'm upgrading to a custom built @Bigdaddy4760's garage custom smoker that will have a lot more cooking space so I dont have to worry about what size brisket I get and can fit multiple large pcs of meat on and still have room for sides. I need to figure out the size and design still but it will likely have a 48" wide main cooking area with a 2nd removable rack for smaller items vs the 17" wide cooking area in the GMG pellet.

I feel very lucky to have Maner @Bigdaddy4760 teaching me the ways. Couldnt ask for a better mentor and man have I been eating some great BBQ and can continue to do so with what I've learned. Gave the brisket from yesterday away to some good friends, My buddies girl is pregnant and last time I saw them she told me how much she loved brisket and really wanted some. I told her I'd make them one sometime soon and that was 2-3 weeks ago. She was beyond ecstatic when I texted her saying I had a brisket to cook for them on thursday. Gave me the opportunity to work on my skills and get more practice. Gonna have to throw something on for myself in the next week or 2. Down to my last 1-2lbs of pulled pork in the freezer and my last pc of brisket is in the fridge.
