It's easy to purchase octane booster, and add as needed. This is what I've done when out of the country...works a treat.

I wheel with a buddy that has a Toyota factory supercharger and he would never go back...

    Cheers

    Itz JDM tyte, yo!
    Personally I would choose 3

I thought about supercharging my truck before, but I decided against it because I still want to take 87 octane on my truck. It’s also a lot of money that I’d rather put into other stuff.

I’d ideally like to wait longer to see the 4th gen prove itself before considering one

I would leave the truck as is. This is coming from a guy that has had a few SC 1st gen's that cost a hell of a lot less to SC.

The way I look at things, if something isn't working for me I get something that does. I was about to SC my Tundra 5.7L truck for better towing. Then I needed to upgrade to bigger/better brakes. Then I needed....

Once I added all the cost up on paper I wasn't far off from a diesel. In the end I would still have an expensive 1/2 ton. I sold the tundra and picked up a new diesel truck.

Get something that works for your needs without compromising.

Id agree to a point, but every single offroad park ive been to, none of the full size trucks were able to make it up the steep climbs to the top of ridges, id only see jeeps, tacos and broncos. One time i saw a brand new Land Rover 110, the owners were wide eyed and scared at the top of the thin ridge line. They ended up rolling their Land Rover on the descent, my ranger buddy at hollister hills had to rescue them off hours, since they did it at sunset. I put a maggy in my taco because it was my only complaint with the truck after loaded down with all the upgrades. Now im happy i can get up or over any hills without struggle and I still fit on the small narrow trails.

Full size trucks and off-road shouldn't be in the same paragraph. I have been a bit off-road with my diesel towing the toys but that's about it. Diesels have way too much torque to be useful off pavement.

That wasn't my point though. A full sized is what I needed to not compromise. There are other platforms in the Tacoma segment with a bit more power.

To that point, id still get a taco and supercharge it over any midsize that was out at that time(2020 when i SC it). Currently if i was looking to a new truck then the ford ranger raptor might get my money, but even then, id be hesitant since resale and durability arent the same as a toyota.

It's all about what the persons needs/wants are. I'm not against SuperChargers, it just is hard to do it to an Atkinson cycle motor that is designed specifically for lower HP applications in conjunction with a hybrid.
Some motors are not really designed for forced induction and to add one properly is takes a bunch of money.

I ride mountain bikes and moto so i made a cost comparison on a new mtb vs more power in my truck. Since the year I installed it there wasn’t anything exciting coming out on the mtb side, i spent my money instead on the maggy. The bike i eventually bought costs around $12k, so a 7k supercharger wasn’t a big spend all things considering.

    Well thanks!
I think Co is good for a visit but i don't think i want to live there, hell I'm about ready to leave AZ and i've lived here all my life, getting too crowded.
My wife and I are thinking small town/village in the mountains of Italy for retirement.

    Yeah.
Wait, what? What kind of TJ are you gonna be?

OP, I'd do #3 and be happy with it, at least for a couple more years while the work the kinks out in the new model. Think about what you like about the new TRD Pro and what you don't like. Go for an Off Road and save for the mods you want over the next couple of years.

No way would I spend $65k+ on the new Pro, especially in the first couple of years of it being out. Too much stuff I don't want. The speaker, the seats, the over-the-top badging, ugh.

I don't regret getting my '18 Pro and thought all the extras were worth the small premium, but the new one has gone bonkers.

Just curious, where is this taken?
Do I notice a ski lift in the back ground?

    Excellent.
I thought that looked like The Springs.
We lived there from '88 to '92.
Stetson Hills, other side of the street from the ball park, and east a bit up on the hill.

I thought I saw a ski lift chairs in the back ground, but was mistaken.
The Broadmoor ski area closed down while we were living there.

I assume you escaped the big fire that took out so much of Black Forest and that area.

    :rofl::rofl:

I wish that I could tell you. We have several states we are looking at for retirement tax purposes. I fully retire this month, but the wife has a couple years until full retirement.

TN is high on the list for the south.

Something like this in TN would work.

    https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/608-Sam-Heim-Rd-Rutledge-TN-37861/2055292535_zpid/

ID/SD are also considerations. NH is as well, but finding a home that we want in our budget has been sporty. Need to keep the cost below 650k so we don't have a mortgage. Not sure we want to deal with the weather of anything north of where we are now.

So that's the long answer. :hattip:

We used to live in SW part of the springs. You could see the old ski lifts from our house.

Our property did not escape the fire.
