I had another engine after it looks Like the oil filter seal collapsed and caused low oil pressure causing a main crank bearing failure about 2500k into my last oil change with mobile1 oil and a better after market oil filter. Motor had 139k
    50k of it supercharged.

I had a friend who is a longtime dealer mechanic Install a used 80k engine
i added afe headers/cats, afe cold air intake and ucon-ems
Installed the cam gears so heads were taken off.

Tried using an old slightly used 05 unflashed tacoma computer that worked for 30 miles then stopped working with UCON.

Put back in the Toyota flashed ecu and URD updated the UCON-EMS to work with the toyota flashed ecu.

    URD has been extremely
    helpful !!!
    throughout this whole process.

Throttle response increased and more pull up to a higher redline. Quite impressive.

Used for 1.5 weeks with that setup
Just drove it 259 miles from VT to CT

Last 10 miles on a highway i accelerated up a hill to about redline. Noticed a hesitation backed off then noticed i lost about 35-40% of power.
I had redlined or close 2 a few times earlier in the drive down. 3rd gear pull was amazing all the way to peak rpm.

    No CEL codes

Now im at a loss trying to figure out the issue.
Almost sounds like there is something slightly hissing from engine when i drive it now. Does not sound as throaty as it did before when you throw a few revs.
Supercharger spins and sounds like before engine just has less power.

Disconnected ucon and ran just the stock ecu like i have done before and same power loss issue.

Thought i found a piece of metal in my tail pipe.
So i Changed the oil with a strainer thinking there might be metal shards in there. It came out clean. No bits or pieces.

Had new O2 sensors installed with engine swap.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks !!!

My opinion is a possible exhaust restriction. Could the metal you saw in the tailpipe be from a catalytic converter coming apart? I would certainly checkout that as a possible cause.

    Hmmm

Brand new Afe headers cats ypipe
They probably have 2k miles on them.

Would explain the one piece of pinkish hued metal i found sitting on the lip of the tail pipe. Which scared me into changing my oil.

    So
Cat maybe failed and is constricting now flow ?
Better than some gasket leak causing low compression. 8CFAED3B-D38C-490C-A69F-8F926D5DACCE.jpg

Could also be a muffler baffle, which may be more likely since the cats are almost new. I certainly don't think that came from the engine, It shouldn't have been able to get through the cats matrix.
I suppose new cats can fail too, could the supercharging and tuning be causing them to overheat though?

Those afe headers with cats are knows to come apart. About 99% sure it’s that. Plugging ur exhaust and making it have no power. U do a search for afe cats and Ull Find stuff I bet

The hissing is the restriction in the catalytic converter. All your symptoms point to that as the culprit.

If you can't get it out, you aren't getting enough air/fuel into the cylinders.

This makes sense gentleman. I was up in the Ucons higher rev limiter full throttle on the highway which was alot of fun when i noticed it.

Will call the place where i got the Afe cat/headers from Tuesday.

Maybe i should use something else?
    Recommendations?

Or maybe i just don't redline it anymore.

And i need to make it 260 miles back to VT tomorrow.
    Just go easy?
Or will i create other bigger problems driving it plugged up that far.

    Thanks!!

I would clear the restriction before driving back. May cause overheating of the motor

I agree, wouldn't want to drive it much with a restriction.

I would say remove the restriction if possible, but I don't think driving it back with the restriction presents a huge problem if you go pretty easy on it. Could always remove the supercharger belt for the drive back; it drives fine, only a little less powerful than an NA. You might find it sluggish on hills but it's a pretty safe way to drive it.
