I have been using Royal Purple 5w30 for a while now and have been happy, but sometimes I wonder if maybe I should be using something different either in oil weight or brand as I, honestly, have no clue on what's right to use or change to. I live up in the mountains of NC (lots of hills) and my Tacoma is fairly "decked" out (what matters to this thread is below):

    Bigger tires 35x12.50s
    UCON EMS with Cam gears
    Supercharged
    Methanol system

I...uh, kind of drive a little aggressive around town and was just wondering if I should be considering any changes in the oil I use considering the stress of mods and my driving might have on the vehicle.... any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I've been using Rotella t6 for years now without issue. I haven't done any testing on the used oil yet but haven't had any issues.

While i LOVE rotella T6 in all my motorcycles due to the lack of "Energy Conserving additives" which makes it great for use with wet sump clutches (also JASO MA/MA2 certified)... i would NOT use it in a car/truck motor due to the lack of those additives and subsequently it does not meet the standards laid out in the manual as well as being too thick 5w-40 vs required 5w-30.

OP your RP 5w-30 is fine, but you are wasting money. You can find 5w-30 Mobil 1 full syn on sale for 19 bucks for a 5qt jug and a 7$ MIR.... so 12 bucks all said and done for proper full syn oil.

Do not run royal purple in anything, you're just wasting your money. I only run rotella t6 5w30 in the winter and 10w40 in the summer months, mobil1 will never touch anything I own either.

I personally like 5w30 Mobil1 not that I’m a chemist and have any idea what the difference is. I also change oil every 5K. That’s just me, I know the recommended synthetic interval is longer.

Maybe ease back on the aggressive driving in town, anywhere there is traffic and traffic lights aggressive driving doesn’t get you anywhere any faster. You’ll be less stressed, and so will your engine and the people driving around you.

Honestly never heard of Redline before it was mentioned here, but a quick Google search brings out quite a few people that swear by it. Might have to try it my next oil change.

Don't remember seeing Redline at the auto store...sure I just overlooked it since I never knew it existed.

Appreciate all the replies so far, anyone else out there have different thoughts about this?
