I'm pretty much the last person to "care" about FI/power adders (I drive a stock engine "underpowered" FRS as a daily), but I would most definitely look into the Magnuson chargers and I would do none of those you just mentioned.

I was more asking for his "need". Not saying superchargers are pointless. Tried to have fun with it. But I guess I failed...lol

supercharger or not, i would happily sacrifice more mpg for more bottom end on this motor. i would sacrifice money, too. whether that comes through a SC or a tune or whatever i couldn't care less.

its probably going to cost 5 to 6k maybe more. You can buy a nice mustang or something that will provide that power you want for that price and you get a nice beater out of it.

I went from a SC'd Tundra to my 3rd gen and 99% of the time I don't miss the extra power. Yeah, it's nice to have 600hp on tap (I had a few other mods too) but I hardly ever used all the power.

That being said, I'll be in the market for a SC for the Tacoma when it's released and all the bugs are worked out

Really? I miss the prompt power delivery upon demand (and low end torque) of my wifes 2016 4Runner, my old GMC 6.2L and my old Ford 4.0L every time I drive my Tacoma.

My wife drove my truck once and said it didn't have enough power (she had an '02 4Runner 3.4l, now has a 5.7l Hemi Durango). I told her we could fix that... :D

as long as i'm getting under 20mpg i want something to make me happy about burning that much cash in oil. if the low bottom end meant 29mpg i'd be ok with it. if i'm getting 15mpg then i want some pedal response down low... something to show for 15mpg, eeesh.

if the power can come on like a rocket at 3500rpm then it can come on lower. that rush is obviously a software thing. there will be hardware limitations for tuning of course, but the power rush is software, probably bringing on the direct injection from port injection down low. someone just needs to figure out how to access tunability in this motor w/o breaking stuff. imagine if the power rush came on more gradually and starting at around 1800rpm or something. i don't even need more than 278hp, i just want some of the grunt in a usable rpm range and i'd be really happy with it. i'm almost really happy with it... not quite tho.
