    Hey all,

Soo just got home from a short/long trip from Socal up into the Sierras.
man oh man was it nice up there.

Like the title states, this has to do with my 2012 DCSB 4x4 TX Pro supercharged taco.
Heading out of town last Thursday evening the ambient temps were much lower and the temps were not all that alarming, but yesterday was the drive home and as some of you may know Socal is hot at the moment.

trans reached a max temp pulling one long grade of 256*F and the motor a whopping 240*F...
these temps all worried me as they seemed really high, but there was nothing I could do. I tried stopping to let it cool off and that didn't do anything. The moment I started going again up the grade the temps would meet right back up where they were almost right away.

I had a minor issue with the AC not blowing cold at stops or in traffic in the past and was told by Toyota that it was caused by the intercooler for the supercharger obstructing too much airflow. I keep my radiators clean, but I find it odd that no one else seems to mention these kind of issues with superchargers. I have front bumper, 12k winch, 3 skids underneath, 33s and some suspension parts like Icons with resi's..

Has anyone found a better way to cool the supercharger with perhaps a smaller intercooler to get more airflow back to the AC condenser, radiator and trans cooler? added pusher fans in front to help with cooling??
Am I the only one having this problem??

please also note that even in the evening on Thursday I was reaching low 200*F temps as well..

I have 3 weeks to figure something out as I will be heading back up into the Sierras and then up to Tahoe and want to make sure I can rely on my taco.

Forgive me I'm not well versed in the blower set up on these trucks, just going by other forced injection vehicles I've owned.

Does it have and intercooler? If so is it liquid cooled? I'd make sure your cooler pump is working. Get a bigger radiator or at a minimum an added fan. If your not apposed to a meth injection kit, it will really help to cool your intake/egt temps.

It does have an intercooler and it's liquid cooled. Pump is in full working order as well

Then plumb in a air/ water - ice box , this way as I explained previously can cool intake temps as much as 60 degrees or colder . You can use bag ice or dry ice

I'm not really looking for more power at the moment, rather ensure the reliability by keeping the motor and Trans cooler

Friend is using that style intercooler /ice box on a daily driven twin turbo car . Think of the ice box as a insulated ice chest , you can keep it cold for quite some time

Ok I'll do some research on it. It just feels odd that a factory made supercharger is interfering with cooling if the rest of the vehicle

OP, this sounds like you've got a coolant pump issue somewhere. I can sit at a stop on a hot day and have plenty of cool air coming in. I'm gonna call BS on the Dealer saying 'It's because of the SC radiator', they like to make shit up to avoid a warranty job.

Now, if you were towing hard up and down mountains at lower speed, then yeah, you might see higher temps on engine and trans, but every day driving you should be fine.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
Check your radiator for mud/ sand / etc... Even in 100+ ambient temps, your engine shouldn't get that hot. Trans may get pretty hot with the extra weight and gradient; get a large trans cooler.

Another way to cool down an engine again using ice but only when you've got the engine cooled down like at a rest stop or ??

Place a bag of ice directly on top of the intake and another on top of the radiator . Let them sit there for like a half hour and your engine and water temps will be cold enough to continue driving

Its not. Its for drag races.

Off topic but if you want cooler intake temps, they make a kit call "Killer Chiller" that uses your A/C to cool the water that is sent to your S/C to help cool the intake air. I know a guy that had it on his S/C'ed Tundra and it kept his intercooler water temps at 32*.

If the transmission cooler is inside the radiator then you're fighting heat soaking issues . Get the biggest B&M trans super cooler and remote mount this cooler away from the radiator . You can also mount a electric pusher fan onto the trans cooler to get the trans temp cooled down faster
