I literally googled this before I even posted in here. It is a fact that you can burn out your cats from being to rich. Add to the fact that the 2012+ has air injection in the headers, that pretty much means you have partial detonation in your exhaust. Either way, you're cooking your cats and tha'ts a bad thing.

Google "can rich air/fuel mixture ruin catalytic converters"

How does a catalytic converter go bad?
Possible causes are worn piston rings, faulty valve seals, failed gaskets or warped engine components. Spark plugs that don't fire or misfire cause unburned fuel to enter the exhaust system. The unburned fuel ignites inside the converter and could result in a partial or complete melt down of the ceramic catalyst.

    A thing or two...
Oil vapors build in the crankcase and are evacuated through the PCV into the intake manifold and burned during combustion. During the process some of the oil vapor condenses and coats the intake manifold in sludge. A catch can installs into the PCV hose and give the oil vapor somewhere to condense that isn't the intake manifold. It helps keep the combustion chambers and intake manifold clean because you're not burning all that oil. Also, it can help give an indication of engine health based on the amount of oil collected and changes in quantity vs time/distance driven.

So, I've ordered gauges & sensors to monitor AFR. The shop called yesterday & said they will be replacing my headers at no charge.

Question: Could I TEMPORARILY put the new wideband o2 sensors in place of the factory ones in front of my CAT so I can hook up my gauges before the headers are replaced?

I already have CEL since the CAT is non-functional. Would it cause any other issues?

My first choice on AFR gauges is a bust, so I'm back to square one on my gauges. :annoyed:
If I want to install an o2 gauge in each header in front of the CAT, do I have to have 2 AFR gauges, or does someone make one that will display both sensors?

Innovate Motorsports is the only one that I know of with a dual wb gauge.

    http://www.innovatemotorsports.com/products/dlg1.php

You could run 2 PLX SM-AFRs and a DM-100 gauge, as well.

Thanks! I looked at the Innovate dual gauge & think it looks like a good option. Do you know if it will fit in a Flex Pod?

Ive had tons of high hp cars. I would get a reader like ultragauge to measure your short and long fuel trims. I think your stock fuel pump is hurting and your ecu is over compensating. Hence your crazy high rich reading. You would see that in the st lt trims. The stock fuel pump is garbage and starts clogging and creating more lean fuel trims starting at 30k. Get yourself a nice urd fuel pump kit from gadget. I have had the duetschwerks one for 2 years and its been great. I think the reason alot of 1st gen tacomas last so long vs the 2nds is because you could swap out your fuel filter every 30k. Youll get that with the kit.

The Innovate gauge is a 52mm gauge, so get the Flexpod with 52mm gauge holders and you'll be good.

Update: New headers & front CAT's have been installed. Expansion chambers installed to help quiet the exhaust. AFR gauge has been installed. Dyno run completed - see next post for details.

So now it's running too lean. :angrygirl:

Bully Dog is sending a tech to my local shop to get it tuned correctly -- that's the good news. :amen:

Question: They welded the bungs & installed the O2 sensors BEHIND my CATS. How will this affect my AFR readings? Is it worth making the shop move them to the correct location in front of the CAT's?
