    Decisions…decisions..

I have found myself in somewhat of a great dilemma. The stars have aligned and I plan on purchasing a 2012/2013 TRD Sport (2012 if the deal is right). And by way of fortunate circumstances will be able to either have the TRD supercharger dealer installed (maintain factory warranty) or use the extra funds to kick up my truck with goodies instead of said S/C.

I’m torn. I really dig the supercharger (more power!) which would keep the factory warranty but that’s a lot of loot for one upgrade (maybe add in exhaust as well) but it would look, and be stock for the most part, for a couple years or longer.

Or, spend the supercharger funds for 2-3” lift, wheels, tires, and fresh mesh grillcrafts mods and go storm trooper on it. (which may void my warranty if my dealer decides to be prude)

What would the majority suggest if I offered 1/3 voting power? Supercharger or aesthetic mods?

I kind of have one shot here. If I don’t get the super charger, it will likely never happen, and vice versa. One or the other, can’t have them both, at least for several years.

Get your votes in! Based on your experiences what would be the best route to take.

And…thanks. I have found TacomaWorld to be the best place on the “world wide web”

Mid travel would be nice! And look nice on some 33" tires. But do you honestly offroad enough to justify paying for that? But if I were you id seriously consider a urd supercharger or look at a turbo. Would make a great platform for future nods as well ( mid travel etc.)

too bad i cant vote for both... Because i have both and i love my truck but it depends all on you, depending on where you live and whats the most thing your going to do more!!! if you live close to anything were it requires a lift and tires then ill go for the lift and tires first but if you live somewhere where you rarely see dirt then just go for the S/C and exhaust and put like a 3 inch lift to make it look clean..... if i was in your shoes and me living in Utah and i was to get the S/C first..... i would be kicking myself because i got the Wasatch mountains in my backyard and the desert in my front yard... and down the street i have Moab... and there alot of meets over here to go offroading and alot of trails require a lift and some 33 inch shoes. :) its up to you...... Have fun :D

If it'll take a couple more years to get the other, I'd suggest put the 4k in the bank.
Can't upgrade the engine with just the sc...other things should be done as well.
    Just saying.

should've done like me...have the stealership install the supercharger before buying the truck, adding the price of it to your financing so no all at once big hit on the bank. then, spend a little at a time on the other mods (in my case a little longer than i'd like it to be taking, but i'm doing alright for less than a year with the truck) do everything you can yourself to save money, there's a ton of amazing write ups here, and enjoy watching your baby turn into one hell of a machine

p.s. the s/c whine is ammmaazzzing, and the power, though now i crave more...all to come when the warranty on it is up in about 10k miles (smaller pulley, headers, cai, tuned)

good luck with your decision. it'll be a tough one

the supercharger is a one shot deal...you just won't have that much money all at once (hopefully you will, and everyone else too, but the way shit is now it'll be tough) everything else is inexpensive in comparison, you'll just have to do the rest one piece at a time

Supercharger first for sure. You will be able to get used parts for the other stuff over time. Lots of guys here part their trucks out.
And your tastes may change, but the supercharger will be there for you no matter what.
Plus that sound is so damn addictive.

True, I am moving from a Jeep. I used to do some light trail riding but the trails are too far from me to enjoy a lot and, tends to break things. I'm just a little too heavy footed and heavy handed. If I were in your boat with Moab outside my door then, hell yeah.

I didn't think that the supercharger could be added to the truck financing??? I read somewhere on the Toyota TRD site that it had to be separate...if not, that changes things.

Right, this is a one shot deal. Kid on the way and will not be able to drop that kind of money at once on myself and get away with it.

Tis true...but the extra funds will burn a hole in my pocket and if I put the money in the bank it will become property of el' wifey for savings.

Yep, this is what's on Toyota's website:

"The TRD Supercharger and/or TRD Cold Air Intake are to be sold as a dealer installed or over-the-counter option, after the retail sale of the vehicle the Supercharger and/or Cold Air Intake may not be sold to the customer at the same time as the new vehicle and may not be financed together with the new vehicle."
