If you have basic tools and know how to work on engines do it yourself. You only need a way to hold the crank pulley to torque it down with the new pulley that goes over the existing one. That really is the only difficult part of the entire install.

I installed mine myself along with 2 others on my friends trucks. Then drove it to the dealer for the re-flash. I personally don't care about warranty. You have 1 year warranty on the s/c itself(existing warranty isn't affected) if you install, or if toyota does it goes onto the remaining vehicle warranty. I installed it at 14k with no problems 1 month after the s/c was released in 07.

The 5.7 is a V8 not a diesel, it wouldn't weigh you down as much as you think it would.

Anybody think the 100hp increase the urd s/c for the 4cylinder that just came out would be worth it for 5k? Or should I just use that 5k on a v6 tacoma?

Of course this price doesn't include the custom fabrication for mounting brackets, drivetrain components and rear end not including the head ache of getting everything wired in correctly with a new ecu. Yeah, this sounds not too bad.

So in summation a supercharged 5.7 V8 swap for $10k plus let's say another $5k to button everything up correctly or a complete plug and play unit that is warranteed and test proven for around $5k. Decisions, decisions.

If Toyota installs the S/C you get it covered by the full power train warranty instead of just 1 year on the blower. Find a dealer and hold them to the Toyota 6 hr install that they advertise this should keep install costs around $500-600 dollars. If you shop around you can save a lot of cash, with install I'm in to my S/C for $3900. With the money saved you can do a couple URD upgrades. You will not regret putting on the TRD S/C. You won't be setting any land speed records but I doubt thats what your going for anyway. With your dual exhaust and TRD CAI it should be a pretty mean sounding truck.

After it all $4800.00, No one in my area will do it for 6 hours. I like it and with everything else I got going it should help. I aint looking for a Supra in a truck but rather making sure when I do lift my truck I am going to have the power there with out having to go all out on a regear with high ratio to have good power and be redlining going down the freeway at 55mph.

Have to agree with this. Amazing performance stock, and when it comes time to sell you can actually get some money for it.

But his resale market has been cut to less than 25%.....

I would not buy someones Supercharged truck. You now it was likely trashed on the track and street.... I think it reduces the value for most looking for a Tacoma..

I'm not sure I agree. A compression test can tell you if the motor has been abused or not, something any competent mechanic can do.

And I certainly don't abuse mine at all. I got it for the additional torque for towing, not for racing.

Funny...a supercharger reduces the value, more than rust or high mileage? I can tell you nothing compares to pulling away from a $50k+ Lincoln SUV with a $20k Yoda 4x4 on a freeway onramp.
Fine take my $3k hit. (granted I purchased my 05 TRD/Super 17k miles for $20k)

When towing, did you notice improved gas mileage after adding the super charger? I find my truck's already horrible gas mileage gets even worse when I tow my fishing boat...was debating whether or not a charger would help?

Actually I get better mileage towing or not with the SC. I do have to keep the rpm's up higher than I did without it though. I was pleasantly surprised at this as I expected worse mileage. I'm not towing anything real heavy though. My AT Horizon offroad trailer only weights about 1600 or so, fully loaded.

My mileage goes down to ~10mpg when towing a small 10ft trailer with 2 small atv's. It sucks.
