Supposedly, if 100,000 people want one, Chevy will bring back the El Camino

Even though the last Chevy El Camino rolled off the line in 1987, there’s still a huge El Camino following. So when Joel Ewanick, GM Chief Marketing Officer tweeted yesterday that the company might consider bringing back the iconic truck/car hybrid if 100,000 people wanted it, that became a challenge for El Camino fans.
Since Jalopnik put up this story this morning, there’s already been nearly 2000 people commenting that they would get an El Camino, and they’re hoping for the magical number of 10,000 or more to show to Chevy that there’s still a following.

Had a 1980 ElCo as my first car. Thing handled like a tank, got 12mpg and had a huge 350 motor in it.

Then I turned 17 and got rid of it.

If they can find 100,000 people that want to bring back the El Camino, then they've also found 100,000 people that want to bring back the mullet.

I would still have loved to have seen the a real version of the Trans Am concept that was floating around last year. It looked great.

Trans Am Depot. There is another company too but I can't remember the name.

I miss the ElCo. It might be fairly easy for GM to do by bringing in a Holden ute and rebadging it.

Ok, So.... what this means to say is they will bring it back in the USA. The El Camino never completely died and has been living strong in Australia under the GM owned Holden brand name. They would simply be bringing it back to the US. I believe even Ford still sells a similar design in Australia. In Australia they call it a Ute. This is not unusual thing to do as the last generation Pontiac GTO was simply a rebranded Holden.

Yeah, both Holden and Ford put some awesome motors in their cars in Australia. The new Ford Taurus Sho is another Australia rebrand, i believe. The twin turbo V6's are very popular over there.

This is the dumbest marketing stunt I've seen in a long time. If 100,000 people "like" it on facebook they will consider putting it into production in the US? I saw this on facebook too and figured it was some spam bull shit.

How about getting actual deposits on them GM? How would that work for you?
