So I have a little bit of what looks like surface rust coming from where my sliders are on the frame as shown in the picture. That’s the only spot it’s at I checked all around them and it just this spot. Would it be a safe move in removing the slider sanding the area and painting?

Is is very common to have rust where the welds were done. I would just clean with sandpaper or wire brush and remove as much rust as possible and spray with paint/rust inhibitor and it should be fine.

I live on an island surrounded by salt water where they salt the roads like they're watering a garden and I'd probably just grab a can of Rust Check or Fluid Film or whatever your is common in your locale and give it a spray.

I take mine to a local shop and have it it undercoated yearly and will spray it with whatever oil I have on hand if i see it drying up, wether it be rust check, fluid film, cable lube, diesel mixed with hydraulic oil, whatever. Keep it damp with oil and it'll last forever.

There appears to be a small pinhole in the weld. I think the rust is from water getting inside the tube then the rusty water runs out.

Almost looks like rusty water coming from inside the sliders.
