For the most part, yes. I dont remember any wash outs, but I usually stay just north of Beach Access 4.

Although if you're up for the drive, Matagorda has some amazing beach as well, just not nearly as much driving as Surfside

I had to go check. My friend's brother opened Pirate's Alley years ago, but I never actually a chance to check it out. Just found out they closed a while back. Bummer.

Not far from surfside. Live in Lake Jackson. Would love to go down the beach but with all that salt I worry. You really have to wash it good and even then it's not guaranteed you get every bit of it all.

I've never had an issue with the few cars I've had on that beach. Just wash it good on the way home, and toss a sprinkler underneath for a couple of hours. Hit a touchless carwash two or 3 times over the next week or so. I had my Ridgeline for almost 10 years, with atleast 2 dozen Surfside trips. It was damn near rust-free when I sold it.

Now... Getting in the water is another story....

Well, how was it? I'm close by, in Brazoria, and would be up for a day beach trip in the future!

What about Jamaica beach? Saw that as a little off roading spot somewhere.

Buddies and I are planning a trip to Galveston in July.

Not much of an off-roading area, but a really nice section of beach.

    Btw. Nice Tech N9ne reference.

    As am I!

Probably about twenty minutes south of Jamaica Beach is San Luis Pass (SLP), where you can actually drive on the beach and there are some areas that you can sort of let loose in. When we have large beach meets, we usually meet at San Luis Pass.

Look up Bryan beach. It's about 8 mins south of surfside. You can drive on the beach all the way to the Brazos river. It's a few miles long.

Back by the river they have some trails on the sand dunes. Not sure if they have them blocked off or not. But they were fun

I drove my wife's Fusion about a half mile down the beach at night. That was fun. And someone elses decision.

There have been a few instances where driving from Surfside to SLP is possible. Only things to look out for is really dry days where you'll get alot of sugar sand, which can be a challenge at times. Alot of the times I will go down to the SLP bridge with some friends and have fun around that area. Driving on the beach from surfside does have some narrow pathways and alot of people take their RV or camp on the beach so it can get a little tricky getting around them.

Drove down surfside beach on Friday, took the kids to Christmas bay, then some beach driving.
