    Hey guys,

I am new to the forum. I just picked up a 2023 TRD SPORT Extended Cab 4x4 in Lunar Rock with 5k miles. The truck is completely stock, I am looking to do a tire/wheel and suspension upgrade. My 2nd gen came with 285s and I believe had a 1 inch lift in the front.

I want to upgrade the suspension or get a lift to eliminate the rub from 285s. I am curious if you guys have any recomendations for suspension upgrades to start with. I am new to suspension all the components, but I am learning.

I am looking to offroad once every other month or so. Nothing crazy but some decent trails for camping around the Southern California Area. Will have a snugtop shell on the bed too with maybe a wood sleeping build out in it.

Any suggestions/help will be very appreciated. I'm stoked to join the third gen crew and the forum.

    Thanks.

This info is readily available on this forum, it's discussed very often. I'll comment because I am new here as well, and my fingers are not worn out yet from answering questions that have been asked a hundred times. The lift has nothing to do with "eliminating the rub." Wheel offset is where it's at. Big tires (285+) on wheels with significant positive offset (16-17) will cause the tires to rub on the oem upper control arms. Significant negative offset (12+) will cause the tires to rub on the cab mounts. I'm no expert by any means, but have spent the last 3 months or so reading this forum and learning. Another way to avoid rub is the skinny tires, lots of info there as well. Spend some time reading the forums, there are many people here who have shared both their failures and success for our knowledge.

I will be brief, 5100 Bilsteins on the top setting for a nice stance with a slight rake, one inch rear block, front diff drop and rear carrier bearing drop ECGS clam shell bushing, Sumo bump stops front and rear, Toyota 4Runner pro SEMA wheels 17x7 with a +4 off set wrapped in 285/70/17s Toyo AT3s SL rated at 31 pounds cold, a great alignment, moved the factory mud guards back 3/4 inch by opening the bottom hole. This all resulted in a great ride, vibration free and no tire rubbing. I followed up with a in line speedometer calibration from Hypertech and an awesome KDMAX tune for power and decent mileage of 18 mpgs in town. I added this more for sound over trying to achieve any power increase by adding a TRD CAI and TRD exhaust. Good luck.

You had 285s on your second gen, so the geometry is similar but the third gens have an even larger front cab mount to keep the tire in front off, or cut the mount back.
