I have owned my 05 2.7l 4x4 for about a year now and love it. The truck is about to turn 100k miles. I recently replaced most fluids ( front & rear diff., transfer case, and trans). I would like to change out shocks but am a bit overwhelmed with the options. I would like to do this job myself even though I am not a very experienced mechanic. Understand that 3rd gen shocks will fit my truck. I mostly drive on road. What would you recommend I purchase if I want to do this myself without spending a lot of money.

Agreed^ 3rd gen shocks are plentiful and cheap (at least in my area). I was able to get front coilovers, UCA, rear shocks and rear springs all with about 15k for $100. I see lots of people asking $200-400 but they're crazy and their ads just sit there unsold. I got a great deal on mine but I wouldn't want to pay more than $100-150 for front coilovers + rear shocks.

I am in a large city and still have never seen one ad for tacoma shocks. I hope I will soon or I have to buy new. :(

I have not found any either. There are some on e-bay, but not as cheap

It would cost more but you could always contact @HeadStrong Off-Road and get a set of bilstein 5100s or similar with either ome coils or they’re house brand coils pre-assembled
