What’s up guys, I’ve got a 19 SR5 with stock suspension and have recently been getting into some overlanding. Always been the camping type, but have recently started to enjoy the vehicle side of it.
Anyway, what mid tier suspension would some of you recommend? I’ve been looking into the dobinsons for their awesome spring rate options. I’d ad a bumper and winch, and aside from my camping gear that’s about it as far as weight goes. im not planning to add a rooftop as I enjoy hammock camping or throwing up a tent when weather is harsher.

I’ve done a TON of research but am just having issues settling in on a lift. I do not need reservoir or anything crazy and I’d like to keep it under 2k or around that

Do you need a lift to accomplish something?

Yes, I need better overall ground clearance. This past week I took some honestly not too difficult trails and had more scrapes and bangs than I had liked. And to be honest, the look would be appreciated too lol.

We definitely have a lot of options with Dobinsons. I've been running this thread for years, so you can see everyone's feedback and reviews in it.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/dobinsons-2016-2023-taco-suspension-options.474308/

The twin tube struts and shocks would suit your needs just fine and just running a 2" front lift will keep the costs down without the needs for extra parts like UCA's, etc.

Lowest price options are here with an AAL or lift blocks: https://exitoffroad.com/product/dobinsons-lift-kit-toyota-tacoma-2016-2023-with-quick-ride-rear/

Or here with a full rear leaf pack: https://exitoffroad.com/product/dob...-kit-for-2005-to-2023-tacoma-4x4-double-cabs/

Screenshot_13-5-2024_104145_exitoffroad.com.jpgThoughts? I'd like a 3" lift thats level overall. I currently have the 220mm seat height selected should i change this?

Those struts are not height adjustable. GS59-221 are 213mm, GS59-220 are 226mm (they add 1" of lift). C59-352 with GS59-220 gives 3" of lift with ~200lbs added to the front of constant weight.

The only other thing you need is u-bolts.

keep it to 2 inches and your CVs will last longer.

Are you planning on staying with stock tire size? If you lift 2” then lets say go plus 2 on tire size you’ll negate any gained clearance.

What would I get with the GS59-350 and GS59-220? Is that a 2.5” lift with a constant weight of 140ish? If so, will this give me a level look with the full 5 spring pack? Do you recommend a new UCA with this set up?

Yes that will be about 2.5" up front. The full rear leaf pack lifts 2", so you're only removing 1/2" of rake with that difference.

I recommend UCAs at any height of 2.5" or more
