Is it just me or do the brakes and suspension on the new 2016 Tacoma's kinda suck?
I have never felt this in any other vehicle in my life but when I am pressing on the brakes in the truck, if I hit any kind of small bump, pot hole, whatever if feels like the brakes jump off track and it makes a really weird sound and then it feels like it's not braking nearly as well?

I'm hoping someone else can relate to this and maybe recommend a remedy for the brakes and maybe a better suspension for the truck. I definitely want to replace it for something more sturdy and stronger then what's on there now.

Thanks for any help that anyone can give me.

It’s actually is pretty decent. I drove Laramie ecodiesel recently, mine 17 sport with entry level bilsteins and off-road tires drive better than ecodiesel in stock tires and suspension. Brakes on Tacoma aren’t bad by any stretch of imagination

The "really weird noise" is probably just your ABS. Is it a loud clicking/pulsing? This happens to me on one spot on my commute home. I hit this little drop-off and am braking to make a right turn... if I'm approaching the turn faster than I should be, my ABS clicks for a second as my front wheels pass the bump/drop.

And it might be some anti-skid thing, not ABS. I'm not well versed in how those systems actually work...

Anyhow, it sounds totally normal to me.

Thank you very much for the responses... I was thinking that there was something very wrong w/the system. The model of my Tacoma is TRD Sport, Dbl Cab, 2WD.

Did you not notice these weird issues on the test drive? Have you checked the tire pressure as over or under inflated could make the ride feel different.

Unfortunately a 10min. test drive is no where near enough time to identify these issues. I'm one of those SUPER anal people about tires... Balance, correct inflation/pressure, and alignment and yes all are in perfect tune. While I think the brakes and suspension are ok... I don't think they are anywhere near the quality they should be for the price of the truck... I've talked to many specialty auto stores and mechanics saying they are getting Tacoma owners coming in getting the brakes and especially the suspension redone simply because they are not happy w/the performance of either.

Not sure what I will do about the brakes yet but DEFINIETELY getting the suspension replaced.

I always encourage people to get extended or overnight test drives before dropping 30 or 40 grand, like you said 10 minutes is not enough. What model Tacoma did you choose? Sounds like the Auto Store Mechanics you are speaking with are talking about guys buying a Tacoma and lifting it.

The Sport has a harsher ride compared to the Off Road.

The brakes are better than my old 2015 Tacoma.
