I was unable to find a definitive answer regarding a suspension swap and motor swap for my 97 tacoma lx.
Its the base 4cyl model (low to the ground) and i would like to know if i can swap the same year model suspension from a taller model and possibly v6 motor with trans and rear end.
Has anyone on here done this or similar, and what was required to successfully complete the project? The truck has sentimental value and im not interested in just buying one with what i want.
basically id like it to have the stance of the 4x4 if possible.

    Any assistance is appreciated.

Is this a 5 lug truck?

Short answer is no unless you get all of the suspension mounts and weld them onto the frame. You can put a v6 in though.

It will be interesting to see if anyone has undertaken such a project, because all the suspension is totally different.

For example, you can't just swap shocks and springs. They don't fit.

As far as sentimental issues go, a conversion this massive wouldn't really even be the same truck........... which may be ok with you.
