    What @totmacher said. Just go hit the fire roads you are talking about down around 20 psi. See if that's the level of comfort you are looking for. Did you try this in your 4Runner before or were you running full pressure?

    just to add:
    I dont do ALL fireroads, its just a lot of what I do and I want to be able to run them at a decent speed without shaking myself apart [the ICON was very stiff - hence my including and being adamant about this]
    I'm guessing I will be
    60% on asphalt
    30-35% fireroad [and the fireroads here arent nice smooth gravel roads - most of them are pretty bad - rutted out, huge potholes, washouts....]
    5-10% completely offroad

    It sounds like a performance coilover is what would be best for you. I’ll still stick with my suggestion of kings and dakars, buying kings from accutune and dakars from headstrong. Bombing a fire road fast is a whole lot of fun.

    @nosamk
    Also in the pnw
    Im currently running that same fox kit on my 3rd gen sport 4x4. It's a super soft ride. Almost too soft, but I haven't cranked up the front coilovers or added the rear AAL yet. So maybe the ride quality will change after I add preload to the front coilovers.
    Also I believe they come with coils that are 600# spring rate so if you're looking to add any weight in the future might want to look into something with a 650# or 700# spring rate, cause that's what im dealing with now

    Thanks man!! I dont have plans for a bumper [or shell] so I should be fine with the 600#. also planning on the dakar pack instead of an AAL. Did you alter the preset/factory ride height they come set at? what kind of increase did you get?

    They come set at 2" for second gen, or 1" for 3rd gens. So it pretty much just leveled it out. I'm hoping to get atleasst 2" in front and 1.5" aal in rear. Just waiting till I have the time to install it all

    I would reach out to actual builders such as Camburg, Solo-Motorsports, Bilstein etc. Perhaps the conversation should also include dampening characteristics not just soft or firm. What the setup is will need to be significantly different on paved roads vs dirt roads full of holes and braking bumps.

    Cranking down the coils will only adjust ride height. The ride quality is really coming from the valving in the shocks. Give us a call when your ready to have them tuned, we can definitely help you get squared away

    Just ordered an Accutune package with adjustable Kings. I'll let you know what I think when I get it all installed.
