no more then a grand on the suspension because then i have to go to a shop and get it put in too. BUT if the suspension is really worth it like say the $1600 icons then i might just wait and save depending on the quality of the suspension. its my daily driver so it has to ride smooth at low and quick speeds and i dont think im going to do a spacer because i want to take it off road sometime after i buy the lift. also i might add the arb bumper so it has to be able to handle the weight of all the things i might try to add.

is it a bad idea to mix and match suspension? for example ome front shocks and icon rear shocks?

#1 eliminates procomp 3" lift - 720lb springs too damn stiff

#2 makes top plate spacer lift not a great idea. You don't want to be bottoming out your shock off road. Revtek spacer might still work because it's mostly a preload spacer... but...

#3 pretty much eliminates spacer lifts and '5100 only' (using stock front springs) lifts from contention, because you'll need increased spring rate to support the bumper later.

Based on the criteria you state, most members here would either run an Old-Man-Emu lift with 885 springs or a Toytec 5100 lift with Eibach front springs. Your choice whether you want to go to the Dakar leaf pack in the back, but it probably both rides better AND supports more weight than the add-a-leaf. Rare you get both of those working together (but comes at increased cost)

That ARB bumper is heavy. If you install it and a winch together, at that time you might even want to switch to an Old-Man-Emu 886 spring - but that's not recommended when you're NOT running a bumper because it's too stiff.

Have you read this thread yet?

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/11282-tacoma-lift-faq-guide-read.html

You should. You'll be much better informed.

Also, above I think you mentioned you were going to get the lift installed. Most members here will recommend you, if you're reasonably handy, to get a Haynes/Chiltons Manual, read up, and install it yourself. If you're going to be off roading, you need the confidence and tools to fix your junk so you don't get stranded.

EDIT: Oh yeah - that FAQ will tell you not to run 5100s with extended length springs. That's a little deceptive. What it means is not to run 5100s at the 1.75 or 2.5" lift perch settings with extended length springs - that would be "stacking lifts" and overextend your front suspension components.

Like OZ said the full OME kit includes the Dakars (I got them and they ride great).
But you could also get the OME coils & shocks with an AAL for $469 less.

i trust myself enough not to get stuck or stranded but i want the parts install by 4wheelparts so they can do an alignment as well.

you guys have all been really helpful and i really appreciate it most and i thank bjmoose for narrowing it down to the 2 lifts. toytec with 5100's and eibachs or OME.

I have a proc-comp 3" lift it works gret for me i do about 98% highway but more than anything i love a weekend on the trails check out my pics... the lift with 5(with spare) 31.8" BFG A/T it was like $1300 roughly might actually be over shooting a little bit. i was lucky 4wheelparts are generous with discounts to military members.

No spacers for th 886s. I have the 885s & Dakars and love it. The local TW member I got my lift from had a Relentless Fabrication steel plate bumper with winch, Bud Built skids, and Relentless Fabrication sliders. He switched from 885s to 886s and he told me "I felt like I was being asaulted" so he went back to 885s with a 1/4" spacer. The ARB bumpers are heavier than any other on the market and the 886s were made for them. He was at 3" with the spacer and I'm at 3" without a spacer.
So if you are firm on the ARB bumper I would do it all at once.
If you go with another plate bumper you could get the 885s and 1/4" spacer and install the spacer when you install the bumper.
If you like the look of the ARB but don't wan't all the extra weight Relentless Fabrication makes a great looking aluminum bumper. (885s no spacer) I'll have one some day but it's the last thing on my wish list. I need sliders, skids, tires & wheels first.

Here are some more pics of it.
Buy quality it's cheaper in the long run!
