Just wondering what the best lift for under $1000 would be. Im only looking to run 275/70R17 BFG KO2 which are 32.3 inches tall. I want to carry no more than 1000 lbs on the bed. And would stock TRD PRO 17 by 7 fit the above mentioned tires. I dont want to do any triming.

To be honest, not a very good one. You can get an OME kit or Toytec 5100 coilover set up for about $650-900, but to be a decent lift and to bring your alignment back to spec you need new UCAs which are about $400+ depending on what you go with. I don't want to start the spacer debate in your post, but Ive had a spacer lift, 5100 lift and now my icon lift, please do yourself and your truck a favor and avoid the $300 hockey puck lift. Do it right the first time and save yourself money, headaches and time.

I would recommend since your on a budget:

    SPC LR UCAs http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/25470--SPC-Upper-Control-Arms-for-05-UP-Tacoma_p_195.html

    and either

    an OME http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/OME-TAK--OME-Tacoma-Suspension-lift-kit_p_231.html
    or Billie lift kit http://toyteclifts.3dcartstores.com/BK0510--Bilstein-Adjustable-lift-kit-with-5100-shocks_p_132.html

Since your not running 285's you may not need to trim, not too familiar with the 3rd gens and 275's.

So if the budget isnt that tight what would you recommend based off of the tire size I want to run. I want quality as I drive about 40k per year.

Anything Icon, King or Fox paired with a set of UCAs to get you in alignment if money isn't an issue. I ran the Toytec 5100 coilovers for 2 years, 50k on my 2011 without any issues, but the ones I have on my 2015 started squeaking (bad seal/bushing inside the shock body) so I used it as an excuse to upgrade to Icons.

Not to be a Debbie downer but if you are running a 16' taco I'd recommend waiting until more options come out for the truck for lifts and just keep saving up for something that will be high quality (over $1000). I know the desire to hurry up and lift the bitch but ultimately you want something that will give you longevity and reliability.

^^^^^This!!!! Haven't done much in the Tacoma game with lifts. But went through about 3 kits in my jeep before I found what I needed. Looking around I haven't been too impressed with what has been coming out for the tacomas. I'll be waiting till some more options come out.

Anything worth doing is worth doing right. I'd hold off and save your pennies for a quality lift. Your truck, your ass and your passengers will all thank you down the road.

That is what I'm running and I love it. Everyone has a different opinion on ride. But I believe it's better than stock.

Its a good kit, after UCAs you'll be a bit over your budget but its a quality lift.

Maybe I shouldn't have put the $1000 budget. Truthfully, with the lift tires and wheels I'm wanting to stay under $3k which is possible as I found the TRD 17 wheels for about $800 with shipping and I want BFG KO2 275/70R17 or maybe 285/70R17.

I concur with that statement as I run about 40k miles a year.

Okay, don't forget to factor in alignment cost, TPMS sensor rebuild if you choose to do so and any labor costs you may not be doing yourself (i.e. install or spring compress, etc.) My Toytec Billie lift after parts, wheels and tires and alignment was close to $3500 and I did everything myself with a buddy minus alignment and tire and wheel balance/mount.

I haven't even bought one yet, I have two savings going one for the truck and one for a lift lmao.
Really considering I'll go with the OME BP51

Ok I think that'll be what I run with the Old Man lift just in case I decide to run a heavy load. I don't want any rubbing or issues while carrying 1000lbs or so of gear.

The OME springs (front coil, and rear leaf) are great. Some people have had issues with the OME shocks being too short and limiting travel, or making bad noises. On the cheaper side you could go new UCA (light racing), OME coils and leafs, and the appropriate sized bilstein 5100 shocks.
