Tires, Softopper, fully armored, winch, many pinstripes.
Why pay extra for the Trail tires and suspension just to replace them?

So you get the stripped down version with a locker?
I get it though watch lots of guys buy pros just to replace everything you just paid extra for.
The biggest thing to ask yourself is do I need a bigger tire what kind of trails are you expecting to hit? How much gear are you planning on packing onto the truck? Are you ready for the rather major penalties of putting an agressive heavy tire on?
There's so many contributing factors that go into choosing the right one. I'm on my fourth set up and still don't know if it's the right way to go long term.

    Exactly.
Mine is stock other than upgrading to 265 tires. I'm in a group that off-roads quite a bit and I haven't found a trail yet where I was left behind. There are at times a few spots some of the guy like to play on to see if they can winch up, but I'm quite happy just being extremely able to anyplace I want where cars simply can't go. It's typical that if I can't make it down a trail, none of the other guys can either without using outside aids such as winches. Other than tires, Tacomas are very capable, even in stock form.
