I have a 2002 tacoma Step side. V6, manual, with 148k miles on it. I put on beilstein 5100 shocks and had the fronts set to full lift to level out the ride about a year ago.

I just discovered today that i have a broken leaf spring, not cracked or stressed but broken plum threw. I use this vehicle as my daily driver, work, play, etc. and i have no second vehicle. Next year i plan to buy a new tacoma or tundra.

So... now the question. With just buying new shocks last year, having a completely broken leaf, and a desire to upgrade when it becomes my true play truck, what do i do?

I buy a regular leaf pack for driver and passenger side, and when i lift it buy new shocks and new leaf, or add a leaf. I wont use a block, i want quality not quantity.

Or do i buy the bigger leaf pack now, install it and drive it with the ass end up again? (but can i do this, will the 5100's handle the extra 2-3 inches the bigger leaf pack will give me?

So many questions, so many problems, hate buying things twice especially so soon.

So technically, with the 5100s i am 2 inches higher in the front from stock and the back is basically the same. I would like 6 inches from stock, which would likely mean i have to do a major lift kit for up front when i turn it into my true play truck.

Well yeah, i plan to, you didn't really read all the info i gave. its not about getting or not getting leafs, i will be buying leafs, the question is do i go with a bigger arched pack now, or wait and buy it again. Also, can i even do that, what will the extra 2-3 inches do to my shocks.

You don't search do you. Dakar packs give you about 2.25 lift, as well as more weight capacity. I have 5100s all around with toytec eibach coils which give 3 inches lift (I'm also planning on an arb bumper so the 620lb rate is good), a diff drop to relieve the cv angles a little. Dakar leaf packs in back with 5100s. i have the add a leaf for the dakar packs i plan on installing to gety a little more lift and load capacity.
I'd say get lift packs and even if your riding around raked up its ok. Your 5100s should be able to handle up to 3inches lift

So it seems the dakar leaf pack would lift aprox 2.5, plus likely another .5 from my worn out leafs, so will the 5100s handle that in the rear, seems like a lot of lift for them.

and my truck wouldnt sit level, it currently sits just about level with the 2.5 5100 lift in the front, so if i jacked the back up 2.5 my ass end would be back up again like it was prior to the 5100 upgrade i did last year.

That sounds good, so if i bought the dakars, i would be 2.5 from stock height, and the 5100s could handle it.
-up front my 5100s are at 2.5, so new toyotec would give me .5 more lift?

so im good there it sounds like for my next step.

But what do i do to get my 6 inches of true lift? Next year, would i be throwing out the dakar pack, or doing a shackle drop? or would an add a leaf be ok.

Do i jut buys the dakars and ride with a rake, then do a full rework to get a long travel suspension? I dotn want to stress my machine, im not into half assing it, i want to do it right, but at the same time dont want to throw money here and there.
