I discovered last week that my driver side leaf spring is broken. The middle spring is missing the whole center section. I was looking around and discovered that tacomas are known for broken springs. I was looking to possibly upgrade to a 5 spring, which would give a slight lift. Can I do this if everything else is currently stock? I would change both back springs at the same time. And...Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get a decent set? I do haul wood and compost in the bed, and looking to get a trailer to carry, so a bit of an upgrade seemed in order.

I posted a number to check for Toyota recalls and I seem to recall there was a leaf spring recall in there as well

Same here, and a LBJ recall back in 2011 or 2012. Nothing about leaf springs

1457552375338.jpg Got mine from Rocky Road Outfitters. Both the web site and the guy who I talked to on the phone, from RRO, said to remove one or two leafs for ideal ride height. They were not kidding. I even opted for the "heavy duty" set, might have been a bit much..... Great service and these are great rear LS!

So you have no lift in the front? Just new leafs? With 1 or 2 removed?

sicyota04, yes "tons of clearance in the rear". I also added new OME shocks and lift springs to the front. So, front gained 2.5-3" rear gained a "ton!" In the picture that I posted no springs were removed. I am building a flat bed and will wait till complete to see how many leafs I will remove for ride height. Also, before you begin make sure you can get your spring shackles unbolted. Had to cut my bolts off, so having new handy may save you some time.
