Hey everyone. So my '99 needed new shocks, front and rear, and just to get it on the road quickly so I could get to work I bought the Monroe quick struts from O'Reilly's. They seem overly soft, but harsh at the same time. I get a lot of body roll around corners, and yes the sway bar is still on the rig. My main question is this though, could they be causing the excessive wheel hop feeling in the front? I get it mainly in the snow, even just a few inches of snow if I have to give it a decent amount of throttle, it bounces really hard, and it feels like it's mainly in the front end but I'm sure it's the rear as well. Could I buy bilstiens and use the coil springs that came on the quick struts? Would it make any difference in ride quality? How much do the coil springs affect ride quality? Sorry for this long story book of possibly stupid questions. I have worked on and wheeled a lot of Toyotas, but it was mainly solid axle trucks and a couple of the older (80s) ifs trucks, and those use torsion bars rather than coils. Thanks in advance.

I've never owned them but word is Monroe Quick Struts are crap. Springs give you suspension, shocks control the speed at which the suspension moves. If you're getting a lot of roll, I'd guess the coilovers are too soft. You don't mention if you're lifted or stock, if you're stock I'd go with this package from Suspensionlifts.com, it's what I put in when I refreshed the front suspension on mine. Moog 81104 coils as close to stock as you can get and Bilsteins all around.

Not sure what you mean by wheel hop, maybe the shocks are too soft?

My bad, it's stock, not lifted. The only reason I got these was to get it back on the road, I couldn't wait for better ones to be shipped to me at the time. I'll check out the link you sent. Thanks
