I bought my 2016 Tacoma extended cab 2wd V6 new and it now has 83K.
    • The suspension is now feeling stiff but I'm not sure if it is the truck or me getting older. Can shocks get stiffer over time? I would expect the opposite. Can new shocks help? I mostly use it like a car but do haul lightweight dirt bikes.
    • Wet weather traction is really bad, worse than I remember when new. I run the recommended 35 psi. Can you run lower pressures when using it for light duty service? Does it help wet weather traction? The tires do show Traction A but are a Les Schwab brand.

What type of tires for LS? Post a link to what you have.
The door jamb air pressure sticker says 30psi IIRC.

    30, like Scoty said!

Do you need new tires? Your rear shocks could be done from the bikes, or it could be the rear springs

These are the tires. They are not worn out or old. I'll go back and check pressure.

My concern is wet weather traction of the rear tires when starting from a stop. They lose traction very easily even with moderate acceleration. It has been OV tuned which really woke the engine up so that could be part of it. (The powerband is still kind of lumpy and the transmission can sort of hang under hard acceleration. It will hesitate to shift up. I guess this could be a should be a second posting.)

Hey dude, I have a 2wd, also tuned. I can't speak on the shocks. I upgraded to 5100s, they're stiff, which I prefer.
Like you said the tune woke the engine up. You have to take it easy on the throttle from stop. Otherwise you're spinning wheels. Ask me how I know. I've even taken some turns too quickly and have had the back end slide out, little scary. It's something you definitely need to get used to.

Add some weight. It'll soften up the rear end feel and add traction.

Tires could be getting tired aswell. I do find once a tires is 50% worn or close to the compound is not as effective as when new.

This is what I found. Thinking about this. I assume auto shocks lose damping as they wear (although motorcycle forks can get stiffer as the oil becomes "dirty" so maybe not) . If the shocks lose damping, could that actually feel rough due to lack of rebound control?

    Size: 245/75R-16
    Load Index: 111 = 2403 lbs
    Speed Rating: T
    UTQG: 620 A B
Load Range: SL = A classification of SL means it's a standard load tire

    recommended by who?
Pretty sure the door jamb sticker says 30
But what does Toyota know? They only built it.
When shocks wear out they dont have the same damping ability or travel as new so they may feel "stiff".
At 83 K it deserves and probably needs some maintenance like shocks.
