Suspension, Spacers and Wheels

    Since nobody wants to answer my question in the designated thread, I'll start my own.

    In the end I want a LT kit so bare that in mind. But that may be 5 years down the road FYI.

    I'm after new tires and I'm thinking of going 285x75x16. Now if I get 5100s for the front (Canadian truck, came with the TSB) set at 2.5" that should level the truck out instead of having a rake.

    Provided I keep my stock wheels, will I need to A) Trim the fenders and B) Buy wheel spacers? Will spacers help with not having to trim the fenders?

    Am I going to do serious hard core Off roading? Not till I get the LT kit. This will be mostly for highway and cut trails, not mudding or crawling.

    Please keep in mind that I'd like to keep my stock wheels.

    285x75x16+Wheel spacers+5100 set @ 2.5"= No rubbing?

    its kind of a hit and miss thing for each person. you will be rubbing on the uca's with 285's on stock wheels so you are going to have to have wheels spacers. and you might have some minor trimming on the fender wells too. but again, its a hit and miss kinda thing.

    I'm pretty sure you'll rub without wheel spacers on stock wheels.

    I thought spacers would help eliminate rubbing, cause you're moving the wheel out of the well and furthering the space between the tire and the UCA.

    actually when i put the lift on my truck, given it was 3" not 2.5, i had no rubbing on my stockers with 285/70/17 tires except on the uca. i put a 1/4" temporary spacer until my moto metals came in. i still did not rub anywhere else. once i put my moto metals on (they are 1.5" wider and less backspacing) they rubbed the fender wells like crazy.

    but with 2.5" of lift you are probably going to rub a little bit on the fender wells at full lock or something. again not much, spacers are going to pull the tire away from your uca to stop that rubbing though

    So 285's+Stock rims+Allpro/SpiderTrax spacers=very possible.

    Could still have some UCA rubbage, but nothing some lotion couldn't fix.

    you shouldnt rub the uca with spacers. just the fender wells. but yes that setup is possible

    That I could live with. I just don't really want to Cut the cab mounts or rub the UCAs at full lock.

    I'm guessing the only way to be 100% sure is to get new wheels hey?

    That would work the best, IMO. Get something with 4.5 backspacing, 0 to -12 offset, and you should be alright. :thumbsup:

    x2! you shouldnt have to cut the body mounts or anything. but know that you are still going to rub the fender wells most likely with aftermarket wheels.

    I just didn't feel like paying another grand or so for wheels. And there are very few aftermarket wheels that I think look good.

    Those are 285's? In the second picture it doesn't look like it. Although it could just be me.
