After yesterday's outing to Pismo beach it really taught me just how lacking my front suspension is in terms of stiffness and rigidity from blows over high speed bumps and terrain, as well as semi airborne jumps. I felt my front tires rubbing a little and could hear it.

My question is, with running the current combo I am, Bilstein 5100's and stock springs on them (which I believe at 570lb springs?) What weight rating springs should I run? Suggestions needed please.

I'm already lifted, I do have to say though, that I have maxed out the lift on the Billies at 2.5"

I have 884's which help, and I believe are same rate as 885's, but shorter (less pre-load).

I don't think taco jumping is comfortable till you get a good long travel setup. like I said, springs help, but then your asking the 5100's to dampen them which are not up to the task if hammering through whoops.

    stock truck= pogo-stick.

    upgraded coils on 5100 truck= better pogo-stick

    long-travel truck= dune rig

Hmm.. I don't exactly want an all out effort dune buggy truck though. Are the 884's a lower weight rating?

Is there any good reading information about these OME springs somewhere. I have searched and I'm not really coming up with a whole lot of much.

    Thank you very much!

I'll chime back in here with further questions because I am sure I will have some.

Not a whole lot of info I got form that actually.

    I have some questions here:

    - Currently, the size of my rear lift, when measured from bottom leaf to the very top leaf spring is 2.25." I am running the Deavers F85 leaf pack 1.5" and retained the overload spring as well.

    - Currently, my 5100's are set to max at 2.5" of lift using stock springs. I want a stiffer spring, but don't want to end up accidentally raising the front of the truck so high that it looks taller then the rear. I don't want to raise the front anymore really, the truck has a very nice rake to it, unless the additional lift will just level it out, then I'm still ok with that. I just want a much more stout spring that will help not to bottom me out when I'm high speed wheeling.

Would it just be a better idea to just get the taller springs (886), given that all they raise the front is 10mm more then the 884's? I really cannot see how much taller these things are then stock, and how stiff they really are. 650lb springs?

Just to give you guys an idea of what I have. I have a 40LB Matt123 TRD 1/4" steel skid in the front, a BAMF behind the grill light bar and a relentless fab transfer case skid. I don't want to really go higher then 2.5" of lift because of the need for UCA's which I really don't want to deal with.

    885's are the same spring rate as 884's ( 590 ) but 10mm taller

886's are about 10mm taller again and their spring rate is 660

So the 886's vs. 885's are the same height correct? It's just that the 886's have a higher spring rate?

886's are for heavier weight on the fronts ie. winch/bumper, dead hookers on hood.

How much is OP willing to spend?

    No

The 886's are taller and a stiffer spring rate

The stiffer spring rate I like, the taller then 885 is what I do not like.

I do not want to get rid of the 5100's I just picked up less then 6 months ago, I still want to retain my lift of 2.5", I just want a higher spring rate to avoid bottoming in the front.

So I guess you could say that OP is willing to spend $0 on shocks at this point, until they either blow out, or I outgrow them. For now though, given the amount of wheeling I do (which In my area there isn't too many places to do that at unfortunately) I don't want to throw down on some insane setup. I just want a stiffer front. I guess that's too difficult to obtain with OME springs given that they are "lifting springs" not just stiffer springs, and are not very compatible with Bilstein 5100's correct?

5100's aren't recommended for use with 886's anyway
