hey guys i need some guidance, i have a 05 prerunner 2wd, and i was wanting to put a lift on it thats not too crazy, but im getting pretty overloaded with info on here so any suggestions would help. also debating on going with 285/75/16 tires so it would need to fit them.

i dont want a super crazy lift because im not going to be hitting crazy off roading trails all the time, but mostly like light offroading, beach going, ranch roads and maybe the slight once in a while a little more aggressive off road. i know about the bilstein 5100 with ome 885 and rear add a leaf setup, or maybe the dakar regular duty setup. but then there are also full suspension kits like the full ome setup or something to that effect. i want to add probably a shell or camper system to my longbed as well as a drawer system in it. so i was thinking about adding the dakar maybe?

which one would yall suggest, because i am kind of overwhelmed with all the choices and am new to building trucks and offroading. my budget is around 1000 dollars. thanks in advance

I hate to break it to ya, but a budget of $1,000 and Dakars don’t play nice together. You’re gonna need to spend at least $1,200 in parts with Dakars in the mix. They’ll net you 2.75” of lift in the rear. Are you looking to maintain some rake or level it out? Are you installing the lift kit or are you having a shop do it? UCA’s may be necessary if you’re eyeing 2.5” of lift or more up front, so budget for that if so.

Basically, save a bit more if you want more than the popular 5100/AAL setup that can keep you under your $1K budget.

is the 5100/aal a good enough setup or should i save up for the dakars? again im not doing anything too crazy off road wise and i dont think im gonna be hauling 1000 pounds but you never know? i could spend more just trying to see what the best bang for your buck setup.

I’d go with the Dakars (heavy duty) if you’re planning to add a shell and drawer system/platform. The stock leaf pack’s a joke and will not be able to handle that constant load.
