Been looking to lift my '03 DBSB 4WD TRD (250k miles) BUT I really don't want to drop $1000-$1500 (not including install) for equipment. It's not a rock crawler or heavy off-roader. It won't even be my main daily driver (I have a 4Runner for that). It's primarily for a secondary vehicle, carrying "stuff", hunting (pulling trailer/ATV) and such. What would be a good set-up for under $1000 installed that will provide 2"-3" of lift?

You could do 5100 shocks all around with ome 881 front coils and rear dakar leaf springs for around 1k and then install yourself (really not difficult)

This. You could probably get Nitrochargers in place of the 5100's too and still be under 1k.

Ok. Pretty sure I've decided on OME 881 (2.00") with 5100's but I'm not sure how to handle the rear. Should I do the HS 3 Leaf Progressive AAL or new Dakar packs? Again, I know new packs would be the "ideal" choice but I don't know if my stock leafs are worn out or not (250k miles on truck). Again, this isn't really an "off-road" vehicle. Quite a price difference in AAL and new packs. BTW...currently center of hub to edge of fender 20.25" front (both sides) and 20.75" rear (both sides). 0.50" rake is acceptable to me.

If those are original springs then they are definitely very worn out.

Pre-lift I was sitting at roughly 20 7/8" in the front and 21 3/4" in the rear measuring center of hub to bottom of fender flare so it looks like you are sagging some.

How many pre-lift miles were on yours?

A little over 77k, so very few miles in comparison. This was done recently though so suspension parts were 14 years old.

If your springs don't lean and feel ok to you roll with them. If a truck doesn't get loaded a lot, I don't see any reason why they'd be worn out. This is the first truck I've ever owned that it was even suggested springs needed to be changed.
Use blocks in the back if you want. Not everyone needs more travel.
I wouldn't use them up front though.
If you don't like them later, you may have more disposable income.

I would not recommend blocks or lift shackles for a variety of reasons. That being said for the aal kinda comes down to use of the truck and money. new springs are better but not everyone can swing or justify that
